I just thought of something reading this, Shifted would you be able to write a program and stick it on a secondary OBD II connector (relocate and hide stock one) so when they open it up with their scantool it fries it or sends it into meltdown or somthing fun like that?
I live in Minnesota so I don't have to worry about emissions testing or anything but I feel bad for you people that do

'99 2200 LS CX1 Sport
yeah i would rather have axcess to the program my self
for the reason that anything you change in the program needs to be tested in that car , not in anyhting else , cause each case is different
also if i had it set for here in phoenix , and went to the bash id like to be able to retune the program to get the best possible times for the conditions , what works here wont work else where for the best possible times
if you had a base program , or where able to save a copy of the existing program , that would help save the idiots from screwing up to bad they cant get the car to run again
JBP, or anyone else know how much timing the GM SC reflash is taking out ?? From what I have been reading here, most of the turbo guys like the SC reflash.

We only have one PCM customer on this site with a turbo set up, and his PCM has not been installed yet... so the turbo guys dont have a JBP reflash to compare the SC reflash to... yet...
Hey death.. how much did you guys pay for your GM tool? I know somebody who has one as a rebuilder of PCM's and it cost him a pretty penny - way more that a tuner would pay. I'm just curious if you got it for under oh say.. $15,000?
But I will tell everybody that what he has can do exactly what he says it can. Its what the tuners are trying to develop for reflashing, but way more expensive. But its also supported by GM somewhat. Unless I'm mistaken and you guys have something that doesn't have GM in the name
Beauty is in the eye of the beer holder.
??? i think what you are talking about is an OBD II Tech2... a multi purpose scan tool that allows you to change little things... What we use is nothing like a tech 2... It is not made by GM, nor to my knowledge does GM know about it...
You guys still seem a little confused as to what a JBP reflash in tales...
for example..
if you go into dos you will see C:\
if you want to look at the directory you would type C:\dir
if you want to format your computer, C:\format...
this is part of a programming language...
This is how we reflash pcm's, using GM's programming language...
We do not use a simple device where you push one button and your timing is retarded...
there is a complex algorithm for it...
^^ Uhh yeah, a lot of us know that we are just trying to figure out what you are using to do this with cause some people such as Shifted are currently working on cracking the 'ECM code' that appearantly has already been cracked. We are just wondering if this is some kind of high priced tool or if you created a program yourselves.
^^^^agreed
also can the limiters be set to ANYTHING we want for example 200mph and 7500 rpms
and also can shift points be changed on automatics? and if so it would be kinda hard for the customers to know exactly where the shift point should be set to unless it could be reprogrammed while on a dyno, and be able to be changed little by little until right instead of sending it back, then recieve it again redyno, not right send it back for 200 rpm change then recieve it back again still not quite right and so on.

reading hex is like a new pair of underware.. at first its constricting but then it becomes a part of you..
anyway yes dragging C out of a embedded circuit and then trying to reverse engineer it wont be the easiest task.. but if i could just get the C, i'd be in good shape. thats why i emailed you earlier. hopefully this all works out.
p.s. it was the bradley address

Sven you totally quarterloafed your computer..
How long does the programming take? I don't like the idea of sending out my computer and leaving my car just sitting there. Unless I could somehow get a hold of a computer from an 03.... Would I be able to say, drive out to the shop and have you guys do the programming and then drive home the same day?
Anyone on here have a reflashed PCM in their car? If so, how do you like it?
Also, is the PCM vehicle specific, for example, can I go to a junkyard, and get another PCM to send JBP, and reinstall the spare stock PCM for driving around in the meantime, and for emissions testing? Is it possible to easily swap PCM's on these cars, or is there some kind of security crap?
The 00+'s can swap easily, the 96-99's are harder because of passlock, but not impossible. Tough part is, that if it is a good emissions place, they might pull the VIN from the ECU and when it doesn't match the VIN on your car, they may ask some questions.

nope.. not a tech 2. A GM product. With every car ever produced available and where you can set any parameter, redesign the complete program or even create a complete custom one.
A former GM engineer who shall remain nameless got his hands on one and was doing stuff at car shows. Him and his 'toy' helped us figure out the communications so we could get beyond just a scanner, and actually write a program to reflash.
And funny you should mention DOS.. thats what it runs on. Its a full-on engineering program written by GM.
Beauty is in the eye of the beer holder.
That actually makes things a LOT clearer....
He won't give out the unlock algorithm, not because he doesn't want me "screwing up my car", its because he doesn't know it. The information isn't illegal to give out, just some bs story he gave me. I would have been happy with the truth and left it at that.
He also can't resell the software, because he probably doesn't have a "legal" copy if it himself if it was obtained through sources other than legitimate GM reps.
Well, for you and your customer's sake, lets hope you don't get caught with your hand in the cookie jar.
Robo, I'll email you later tonight, I badly need your insight on some stuff related to obdproject.

ya, let us know how your computer stuff works on that boosted car soon.
Good luck.
If anyones wondering whos getting the boosted reflash from JBP, It's me. The list of changes to my ecu is large and very needed. With any luck it should be here next week.
Have you taken i to the track yet to see what kind of times your running, or dynoed it at all??
Also, how long ago did you send your PCM to JBP to get the reflash, i have been trying to ask what the turnaround time is and i never get an anwser, How long have you been waiting so far??

If you are still wanting to know, the reflash is written on a computer then the pcm is hooked to the computer and reflashed...
and the govener can not be removed completely, it can be bumped up to 255kph.
Shifted
As i have said to you before, i never said it was illegal to give to you... I said we would be liable if you were to screw up your pcm...
Hot Rod, he doesnt have his pcm yet... Due to the extensive changes he wants it has taken 5 weeks and we will be ready to ship it next week... These things take time...
And Mike, I told you that I would sign any release, along with a notary or even a lawyer's draft exempting you from liability. I don't care if I screw up my pcm or my car, that would be my fault, not yours. It just seems that you are working incredibly hard to keep some information that I've already exempted any liability to you for giving me.
I'll give you whatever you want to release you from liability. Lawyer drafted exemption form with two notary signatures, and I can have it overnighted to you.

Wow, 5 weeks, thanks for the response.
Ok, lets say i want the speed limiter reset to 255
My high RPM fuel cutoff set to 8K RPM
PCM set to control 42lb injectors
also set to read a 2 bar MAP
Coolant fans to come on at 180, instead of 200+
can you set the PCM to read a wideband O2?
set to optimize your stage 2 cam for 2200
I have a cold air intake
56mm TB
header and full 2.25 exhaust, no cat wih post cat O2 sim
ASP crank pulley
Crane 1.6 gold race rockers
stock fuel regulator
intank 255LPH walbro pump
S-AFC2 to fine tune the injectors
MSD coils and wires and 2 stage colder plugs
Thats a list of what i would like for my curent build, and i will be dropping in the turboi engine at a later date. Also a list of current mods, although right now i have stock injectors.
So to make the above changes what kind of turnaround time would i be looking at? If i need to becasue i cant have my car down for more than a couple days on a weekend, could i just get a PCM from another 99 2200 5 speed and you reflash that PCM with my VIN so i can just swap it out, and still be able to drive the car while you have the PCM?

still sounds liek a real inconvience not being able to do at as you need it or adjust it while on a dyno, and a long turn around time for the cost.
even hptuners stuff that they have out for other vehicles is about the same price but is sold to the customer for there own use.
but JBP IS the only one out with this capability for us as of now
kinda sucks

Your worried about us screwing up a ECM/PCM, but not worried about a customer wrecking thier car @ 125mph (if I knew how to convert to
KPH I'd do it for you)
JBP is not the only place with this software...... another Canadian company (
RSM) claims to have this same software, or at least something like it. They too want to charge something like $500 to reflash as well.
