I'm at that point where I'm ready to screw it and drive the car off a cliff (aren't we all there at some point). All I want to know is which way I need to turn the 5/8" nut (the smaller one). Clockwise or counter-clockwise. The whole damn thing is so rusted I can't see which way to go.
Neither of my Camaros were as a pita as this (even though I don't have to jack this one up.
Oh, and not sure if my sig says so, but this is a 95 2.2.

Actually, depending on how you look at it, it changes directions which way is clockwise. So if the wrench is hanging down, push towards the front of the car or the back?

if u cant figure that out you need to never work on a car again.

Well, when you gotta turn one and can't really see the threads, plus the way it's lined up, it makes it hard to guess which way is what. I stopped for today for a family thing. I'll be back tomorrow to tackle it.

2- your going the wrong direction
What happens if I broke those stupid quick clips? This filter must be ancient.

No, I wasn't worried about using them again. The new filter did come with new clips. I'm just wondering how the heck I'm supposed to get it off now.

Yea I was gonna say that I just tried pulling it but it didn't budge. I'll shoot a lil PB in there to help since this filter is frickin ancient. Thanks for the help.

WD-40?? and some wheaties
I had the same problem so much rust it would not budge so they had to cut the line and put a rubber line there with clamps on each end. Its good as new no problems so far.
Do all 3rd gens use the same fuel filter?
Cavys? Yea, I assume so. Just about everything is getting condensed nowadays. There used to be sooo many oil filters and now there's only one per model usually, no matter the difference between engines. Just go to your local auto store and look it up, or have them look it up. IIRC, it was atleast the same filter for all 95s.

I know 95-99 are the same filter... but I haven't had any reason to research beyond that.
As for oil filters, they are different for each J engine, and VERY different for the Ecotec, as I understand it to be an internal filter (please correct me if i'm wrong, it's just what I was told).
