I had my computer scanned at Auto Zone and it is throwing a multiple misfire code. I believe it was P300. I have a '97 2.2 with intake, 4-2-1 header, high flow cat, and 2.25 cat back exhaust. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
whats happening to ur car detail helps
It's running very sluggish, no pick up at all. It's not making any unusual noises or driving any different other than the no pick up. I started getting the flashing CEL on Friday morning while sitting in traffic after having driven for about an hour.
Might be time to replace those plugs and wires, i would check and see if the plugs are bad first. I'd also recommend the AC Delco's too.
This is the actual code # P0300 Random/Multiple Cylinder Misfire Detected. I checked the plugs today they look fine but I'm replacing them tomorrow. Is it possible the coils have gone bad? I would think that for it to be a multiple misfire it would have to be more than plugs.
Thats possible too I would think, id think those are a bit more costly too.
change ur plugs wires and both coils if it still messed up its ur distributor for sure
were any of the spark plug tips (where the wire plugs on ) black ? if so then that wire is burnt , and you need to clean the tip of the plug and replace that wire
at the coil the tip's should be silver , and when the wire goes bad at the coil will either be white or black
if do like the plug replace that wire , and clean the tip of the coil
Thanks. I'll take a look at the coils. I looked at the plugs and they look normal, I'm using Bosch platinum plugs, but I think I'm going to replace them with AC Delco tomorrow along with the wires. How much better are the MSD coils over stock, and is it possible to relocate the coil packs off the back side of the engine? Thanks for all the help.
