I have 72,000 miles on my 2001. should I start using a synthetic oil or valvoline max-life?
If you don't have an oil leak issue, or burning oil/loosing > 1 qt between changes, then you're wasting your $$ on the max life stuff. Going synthetic is up to you.
urk! forgot to mention...check your compression. If all 4 are about the same, and 'high' (mine was about 173 psi when new), then going synth would be an OK thing.
Im at 112,000 mi on my 01 and havent had any problems using just plain old oil.
I wouldn't recommend max life. personally I don't like the crap. made my car ping, (just my opinion) and I have an 02 with about the same amount of miles, if your thinking synthetic I would go with mobile one.
72000 miles and have synthetic since around 30000. i love my car.
