Recently i spun a rod bearing and i have been trying to get the pan dropped to change everything and the SOB won't drop for anything. I've tried scraping the edge with a razor blade to break the seal... no go. I've tried using a putty knife around it...no go...i've tried hitting it with a rubber mallet to break it loose... nope. screwdriver between block and pan and that doens't even work. Does anyone else have any kind of idea that might help me get this thing dropped?!
Sorry but I have to ask. Are you sure compleatly sure all the bolts are out? If so just pry
the little S.O.B. off.
Semper Fi SAINT. May you rest in peace.
did you get the ones that go where the bottom of the timing chain is?
yeah i've made sure every bolt is out. I thought that maybe i missed something so i went around and checked it 3 or 4 times not and for some reason it just doesn't wanna give up...
1. Drink a case of beer.
2. smack it with a sledgehammer
i'll tell u this..i had a crack in my oil pan so i had to replace it and ITS A PAIN IN THE A$$ TO GET OFF! just try to tap a flat head screw driver in between the block and the pan and go all the way around with it. then just wack a way. since u prolly keeping ur oil pan put some cushion inbetween the hammer/ mallet and ur oil pan. we put a hole in mine trying to get it off. after about a 4 inch hole in the pan the seal finally broke loose. and BTW make sure u have the sealant for when u put that back on. ALSO order a new gasket (couldnt think of the word for it. i think a seal is used there but i'll just say gasket. go to a dealer and get that.) before reapplying the seal and sealent take a razorblade and steel wool and clean the surface of the block and oilpan....have fun!
