im in the middle of changing my plugs on my 02 2.4L and im stuck. i got the idi cover off, took the old plugs out, put the new ones in, and thats all good. now, i cannot get the cover back on. ive tried to put the black boots in and then put the idi cover on but they do not snap into place on the coil, so i tried putting them onto the coil first but i cant get it in because of the lack of space, ie. the fuel lines and the throttle body cables. does anyone have any suggestions? this is my daily drive and im up $hits creek without my car. should i try to move the rails? ive tried wiggling everything and it wont work. anyone?
unscrew the screw that holds the two fuel lines on the right side of your IDI cover....that will let them move enough to get the IDI cover down there nice and straight....
have the boots attached to the cover, (don't forget to use dielectric grease) and just put the cover on....push down on the cover...give it a few smacks if you like, then put the four bolts back on...they'll hold the boots down on the plugs and you'll be fine.....start up the ride...and you should be good to go....

yup i ended up figuring that out myself after jus staring at it for a bit and cursing
thats for the help.
one things tho, do the boots go all the way into the area thats holds the plugs cause mine dont?
They go down as far as they need.....i'm no pro, and I caused a big fuel leak the first time i changed my plugs....(you gotta break things to figure out how they work!

) but they are spring loaded if you noticed...so they don't need to snap on like a conventional plug boot.
