When my car is sitting there, it idles just fine. Sometimes it starts hard though. Whenever i'm driving, and i push in the clutch, or put it in neutral, the RPM's stay up around 2-3 grand. Even when i'm slowing down. But as soon as i come to a complete stop, the RPM's drop back down to where it should be. I replaced the IAC already. What else could it be? It has me stumped.

i have the same problem with my 04 cav. i just don't understand what it could be. its not a vacuum leak, cause it comes & goes. sometimes RPM will drop to 500 short of stalling.
any leads???
Mine comes and goes, as well. Sometimes it doesn't do it, and sometimes it does. Still does it, havnt found a fix yet.

either vac leak or stuck iac valve...thats my best guess without knowing anything else
This might sound dumb, but on my 03, it does that, and its the cable going to my cruise that throws off the RPM. even without cruise control on it does it. Check your cable, maybe there's a chink in it that's causing it to stick.
My car doesnt have cruise control. And if it was a stuck IAC valve, wouldnt it idle high all the time? My RPM's go down after i come to a COMPLETE stop. it stays idling steadily at usually 2,000 even when i'm coasting to a stop. But like i said, it doesnt do it all the time. It's literally completely random. Come to think of it, it never does that when the motor isn't warm. As soon as i start it, the RPM's go down just fine. But it does it after i drive it a little while, and warm it up.

I do sort of have a parts-car, so i will put that one on it and see if i notice any differences.

from what i was told by an ASE mechanic... could be a "false Vac leak" replacing intake gaskets... keep ya posted if it changes!
