2000 2.2 power steering leak?
Tuesday, November 18, 2008 1:27 PM
Hey,

Noticed my reservoir is at the Add line when cold and that below the power steering tank is covered in wetness of some sort.

how common is it the hose that is clamped to the reservoir or the cap leaking?

Any way to test?

Best thing to know for sure is get some degreaser clean off the oil, Then see if the leak returns, More likely the line is failing.

I'll try degreasing what i can, I tend to think it's the line also.

Does anyone have a diagram of the resevoir? I'm interested to know if the hose i am seeing is the only one or not? All I can see is one large hose that is attached to the resevoir and the cap. I can't see anything else....

anyone know ?

there are 2 lines, a pressure, and a return.

both tend to seep after time, if it is the return, you can just get a clamp on the end where it attaches to fix (it has those damnable spring clamps from the factory), the pressure line (metal to hose) would have to be replaced if it is the culprit.

so maybe it could be just a leaky line....i'll have to get some time to check it out....

buy a constant torque clamp for that hose going to the hook up area.It is prob more than it needs and they sell them at napa only.I would degrease it with some foamy eng clean from like walmart for cheap and let dry and install a new clamp even the cheap breeze (brand) is what most are would work fine bc the pump is prolly plastic and will suit the issue.
