fuel filter line cracked - what to do now
Tuesday, July 15, 2008 12:10 PM
Hi guys,
tried to change fuel filter on my Sunfire '95 sedan and got problem with bolted line of fuel filter.
Quick connect part came off pretty easy, but the other line is all rust and when I used wrench to loosen it, the line twisted and cracked. Fuel is spraying out now straight near the bolt connector
What can be done to fix it or I must change all fuel feed line in full length?

Thanks for answer. however it may not hep at all.
Fuel pump is ok, so why waist money on it. The problem is with line coming to engine after the fuel filter.

You can repair the line... cut it off clean, use some fuel pressure hose and a new fitting/connector.... or replace the whole line up to the front of the car. Up to you how much work you want to do!!

When I did my fuel filter a few years ago, I got pissed off @ the stupid connector..

I just cut the whole thing out & replaced it with some fuel injection hose like mentioned above.... Its been thousands and thousands of miles and several years w/ no problems.

The best way to do this would have been to use TWO 3/4 crows feet wrenches and you would have avoided this problem. PB blaster is also your friend :-)

If you'd like to fix it the best way possible I would go out and get a flaring tool and some line of the same size and practice some flaring on it. Then use a straight junction fitting to add the required length back to the tube and reconnect it in stock fashion. Little bit of fab work, but its the best fix.

Done. Installed a piece of line and connected with high pressure hose.
Thanks for advice.
