I know on some older v8's the purpose of the "5th" port is to warm up the air going into the intake, supposedly to make the fuel burn more efficient. Kinda opposite of how we do things today.

That should have a breather hose that looks like aluminum going to the air cleaner which has a flap inside that controls the air flow going to the carb and fluctuates based on temp cold/hot engine. The flap inside the air cleaner housing is like a sensor but,is not electrical it's mechanical and should move freely and the exhaust controls it's operation.U can buy the hose at advance auto or autozone (Advance def has this) it is a breather hose and that is the 5th port/hole on the exh mani.Make sure that U do not use a gasket on the exhaust manifold it is NOT required for the 2.0 eng u bolt it up torque the bolts evenly that is it.The reason I know this I repl mine about 2 yrs ago on my 85 and both my chiltons/haynes state no gasket and that is how I did mine with No leaks to this day.Not to mention the orig did not have a gasket in case u did not know.Make sure u put anti seize on the bolts helps prevent removal/install issues with the bolts.hope this helps

I would like to elaborate a little more on the part in ? . Actually the hose that feeds of the exh manifold that controls the flap inside the air clnr housing does have a diaphram on top on the air cleaner which has a vac line that goes to the air cleaner temp sensor inside the air cleaner which calculates the temps to control the air to fuel based on the eng temp.I did not realize this until today when I was not tired and thought I would share this regardless to correct my prev post to a degree. So it does affect how the eng runs 100% in that picture. In fact I have replaced that sensor in the air clnr when I did crap loads of work on my car even tho it was not necess faulty.OK
