So I was putting summer tires onto my 98 Z24 and noticed the front left wheel bearing was kind of worn out.
I have a '96 2.2L parts car, so I figured I'd take a hub off of it and put it on my '98. Seeing as the front right hub on the '96 was replaced shortly before I stopped driving it, I went ahead and spent a million hours banging and cursing it off the ruster parts car that was sitting in a puddle of water. Then I went ahead and took the hub off my '98.
Now, comparing the two, they are different! Hmmm, weird. The splines don't start at the same depth, and the '96 hub doesn't quite fit right. The spindle doesn't come out as much as it should, and the ABS thing doesn't line up.
Both cars have ABS.
The '96 is a standard transmission.
The '98 is an automatic.
I went online and checked part numbers, seems like a '96 2.2L should have the same hub ass'y as a '98 Z24, and the same hub ass'y on each side of the car, and the same for m/t or a/t.
I'm wondering, has anyone else ran into this problem? I'm afraid to order a new one now, in case it is different.
Ok, nevermind.
It IS a different design hub, BUT it turns out my axle had some crap on it and wasn't sliding in properly.
I guess I was just retarded after working almost all day to get to the point of putting it onto the car haha.
