Now that is a legitimately stupid question...
First of all we are talking about cavaliers.... 1 model out of many many GM cars, and your trying to make a comparison to an entire car line. That's not even apple to oranges, that's like comparing a granny smith apple to oranges
Why is Honda so loved?
Why are they the only car company actually selling right now? Why are they the ONLY car company to have every single current model on the consumer reports recommended best buy list? Why is it they have a reputation for lasting forever?
Because they make quality cars. If you actually did some research you would find a long list of reasons which would result in people in liking Honda.

Honda makes quality cars and gm doesn't, is that it. Maybe i just missed something entirely but you started out saying we were talking about cavaliers which like you said is one of many many gm models then turn around and say honda makes quality cars. Personally imo i wouldn't even consider an import i don't care how long they last once american always american that's how i see it, plus with all the new models gm is coming out with the hybrids etc it won't be long before they catch up to the imports in terms of longevity. In fact in a post on here someone even said the ecotec engine was designed by gm to last as long as an import engine.

Nowhere did I saw anything remotely similar to Honda makes quality cars and GM doesn't.....
In fact up to this point I've said Honda makes quality cars and that the
cavalier is a piece of crap.
And the analogy also went right past you...... comparing a granny smith apple to orange.... if GM were the apple and Honda was the orange, your getting specific on the GM side by saying the cavalier/granny smith apple and still comparing it to Honda in general/all the kinds of oranges.
And finally, brand loyalty... Just because you like it doesn't make it any higher quality. Brand loyalty is what get GM so far behind the pack to begin with. They didn't think they had to keep up, they thought people would just keep coming back forever. Eventually people wised up and moved on, one thing lead to another now all of a sudden GM is dropping down the ladder saying oh crap, I guess I people wont buy crap just because it has a GM emblem and now they are in such a scramble to try to turn around there bad image. They are slowly turning around, hell I LOVE what they have done with Cadillac but the point is the ignorance of brand loyalty and relying solely on that is what got GM into its downward spiral to begin with.
But anyways... back on subject, this isn't about imports or GM's getting better etc...
its about why people hate on J-bodies
I hate the overall car, but love the ecotec.

Well i would disagree with you darkstars, to just say the cavalier in general is crap and only the engine is great imo makes no sense at all i have never heard people picking what they like out of a certain car and saying the rest of it sucks. If that's the case and say someone hates the cavalier itself but loves the engine why not just rip out the engine and put it in your favorite car that way everyone is happy.
I don't get it. I love my car though and through.

Hes basically saying if you love the cavalier you must not have much experience with different cars because there's not many things the cavalier ranks above.
it depends how your talking if your talking about the third generation outer shell then maybe, the older first generation type 10 cars were flatter not as curvy as the third generation design. Now if your saying the cavalier itself engine and all sucks then the question could be made why do you even own one at all then.
dark if he loves the cavalier he doesn't have a lot of experience with different cars, a no brainer not even worth the post from moar in the first place.
although, that is a debatable point because there could be people out there that love the cavalier but also have a ton of experience with other brands as well, so that actually could go either way.

wow i dont even know how to comment on those responses. i think im with ryan on this one, i think it has gone completely over your head.
just because he loves his cavalier doesnt mean he cant ride in a different car. my question was, how many different cars has he rode in if he loves his cavalier that much? granted i loved my cav and it never gave me any problems but theres also a lot of things to hate about those cars also (as can be said for any car).
there may be a lot of things to hate about those cars, but then again there may be even more to love it could go either way no matter how it's stated.
it could go either way because its all based on opinions.
so if that is the case and it is a blanket post that you know full well could go either way why even bother posting it at all.
