anyone ever considered changing over to a convectional radiator in a cavalier instead of the sealed unit they come with? has anyone here done it?

ive never really thought of it... but why would you want to exactly?
I have thought about it and I do plan on doing it. I am wanting to so I can free up some room to allow for more efficient cooling capability. Getting rid of the stock reservoir will allow for me to further optimize the turbo system also. I am thinking of going with a griffin however I do plan for some custom fab. As far as I know, there are no manufactures that make a performance radiator with a direct fit replacement.
why? i hate the whole idea of the overflow being the heart of the cooling system in a sense. i like older cars where you open the cap on the radiator itself. hondas, with their half a radiator, frees up a lot of room which is something a cavi doenst have especially when you start talking about turbos. i have a 2.2 so the turbo will sit up front.

hmm... now i know what your saying... im sure it wouldnt be to hard to fab something up... if you could find a rad roughly the same size i dont think it would be that hard... just gotta figure out how your gunna make the rad cap accessible...
yea i know, makes it difficult with the radiator sitting under the frame, and i really DONT want to cut it. plus, i need to figure out what all the lines goin to the exsisting res are for and incorp them into the new radiator. im pretty sure theres more than one chamber in the oem res. stupid new tech.

even with turbo you will not need to get a diff rad...get the griffin one if you feel the need for a better one. There is enough room and your bascally trying to make something more difficult then it needs to be.
a car cant be original if it doesnt have originality. i would like to look into a seq. turbo setup. would definately need more room then.
