is my car fast i can beat a hemi 5.7 truck or is that slow and what kind of car does that compare to thanks
Nope your car is not fast. Around hear we judge a car as fast by what it has been proven to do at the dragstrip, not what you claim to beat on the street. You would be doing good if you ran a 15.6 1/4 mile.
This sooo belongs in the newbie forum!

run your car at the track. then come back here, post best time slip and we will tell you if it is. or where you need help and what to improve on

Well it really depends on which 5.7L Hemi powered "truck" your talking about.
According to road test reports in the major auto magazines.
The 5.7L Hemi Ram & Durango are about equal in 1/4 mile times with the bone stock LD9 powered J-bodies with a manual tranny.
The Magnum RT on the other hand is just slightly slower than a Supercharged Cobalt SS, in the 1/4 Mile.

generally we compare our j's to ferraris

yea its pretty close to what the stock LD9 can run. but those trucks and our cars aren't really considered "fast". maybe quick sometimes, but not really fast

.
i beat a car the other night, i think it was a lotus

Wrong question to ask in the newbies forum. The standard response that you'll get is "Show that you're trapping 108 MPH 1/4 miles and you will get your answer". Typically, if you're capable of building a 108 mph 1/4 mile Cavalier, you've already got the knowledge to remove the limiter.

wow can we get a period thrown in every once and a while and some correct spelling? this coming from a guy who wants to cut his stock springs and go faster than 108.

. btw you can not chip our cars, hate to tell you. so that 20 dollar resistor that you bought, you might as well throw out.
i'm pretty sure i no how 2 do it..it don't matter i don't like that ne more but this might sound really dumb but if i were 2 cut it would i loze my speedometer 2 ?

im pretty sure you dont. im not trying to insult your intellegence but by your posts im pretty sure you dont know how to chip the car. the car can not be chipped. only way to do it is to reprogram it with the hptuners software which is going to run you about 500 for the software alone. your car can not handle speeds of 108 mph. do you have a big brake kit to handle the stopping needed if you needed to slam on the brakes because those stock brakes arent going to cut it and sorry neither are the 40 dollar pep boy pads either. do you have a proper suspension? (i think we already know the answer to that). do you have proper tires? probably not.
im not trying to be a dick but its not smart to go 108 on a public road. if you want to go 108, build your car and take it to a track. btw dont try and say you need it for racing because if you trap at 108 you have enough mods and enough know how on how to remove the govener
i didn't mean chip the car. Trust me i've searched everywhere when i first bought the car i no how 2 disble that sensor i just havn't really wanted 2 well i have but i still want my speedometer so i just havn't done it. I am good with cars on the mechanical side like changing engines and tranny's so when i talk 2 people i say i know what i know if i don't know i'm not promising it will come out right....that's why i asked about the springs because my friends car has cut springs and you would never know that there not real lowering springs..

no reason to go over 108 ph on public roads. 95% of races are over by the time you hit 80 mph. and if you have hit 80 mph and did not win, you are not going to.
and if you are racing on public roads, i hope you kill yourself. thats one less idiot out there

until you ride in it and you bounce everywhere... sorry but do it right the first time and get the springs. dont be a cheap ass and cut them.

h8 to kill the original thread more than it already has been, but cass if you are mechanically inclined and know bout all these things. you wouldn't have to worry or ask about losing your speedo. your answer to that question is in a wiring diagram. not on the internet. in a forum where people will tell you anything.

for real. besides, changing the motor in ur rc car isn't the same as swapping a motor in a real car. i'm not saying i'm a god when it comes to cars by any means. i'm a mechanic but i far from know everything there is to know. even if i wasn't, i'd still know the answers to ur questions. keep the governor. it's there for a reason. in all honesty, it doesn't even need to be as high as it is. there's not reason for anyone to take a cavalier up to 108 unless they're on a track, and even if u are on a track, good luck getting it to 108 before u run out of pavement.
