I have been reading about people asking about installing a crank pulley and an alternator pulley with the s/c. I have read so many different things I'm getting a little confused and was just wondering if I could get a little clarification. I have the aem lightweight alternator pulley and I am planning to purchase the GM S/C in a few months. I am wondering if I should be taking off the alt pulley with the s/c setup. Some people are saying that it decreases your boost cause it causes your belt to turn slower. I am wondering if this is true because I thought it just made the rotational weight mass less and therefore took less power to turn the alternator, power steering and a/c etc. I had also read that in order to maintain stock psi with the s/c you would have to put a smaller s/c pulley in order to compensate for the alternator pulley. If someone could give me some clarification that would be awsome!
hmmm thats a tough one... i can tell you this though... the AEM alt. pulley for sure slows the alternator down as its bigger then stock.
alt pulley size doesnt effect anything , but the alt
the crank is the only pulley that effects all the pulley's
i will recomend getting rid of the aem , on belt sizes as the big reason , plus your car will charge better with a stock size pulley
also MD LD9 sells lighter weight stock size pullies if your wanting to keep the parasitic load loss down over stock pulley's , ive also got a set of blue 1's from him for sale if your interested
who/what is MD? and how much do you gain with those pulleys?
stock gm s/c pulley and lighter stock sized crank pulley = sleeper s/c pulley change
.... you cant see a over drive crank pulley...

So you can run a Lightened stock size crank pulley? What happens when you change the SC pulley size also after this?
.. Um.. boost increases..
What kind of question is that?

I was wondering if you were able to run a Lightened Crank pulley as well as change the SC pulley
I thought it was a reasonable question myself

Well my crank pulleys are stock size, so they do not affect the boost.
Under driven crank pulley will lower the boost output of the supercharger.
Over driven crank pulley will raise the boost output of the supercharger.

Well like you said, stock size lightened crank pulley. If it's the stock size nothing will be different but weight, easing the load on the rotating assembly and allowing for quicker revs. Lol.

save yourself the trouble of thought:
md ld9 crank pulley
md ld9 alt. pulley
aluminum 2.8" (stock size) s/c pulley

This is mostly true. What a smaller alt (or any other pulley other than crank) pulley will do is allow more slack in the belt which the tensioner may not be able to fully take up for, which would increase the chances of belt slippage.

Any thoughts on where you can pick up one of these 2.8" Al supercharger pulleys? MaYbe a website or 2?
