Hey guys, i just got a HKS SSQV BOV for christmas, now i know i have to get it welded on, but which way should i make the blow off valve face? to the ground? up towards the hood? off to the side? I am using the HAhn stage 2 kit right now so any help would be awesome thanks

well i was planning on mounting it where the hahn kit has its BOV which is about 1 foot away. but should the part that blows out the air face the ground?

i dont beleive it matters were the discharge faces as long as you are close enough to the tb to releive the pressure there.

yeah it really doesnt matter which direction you have the BOV facing in performance terms although like the guys stated earlier, its a good idea to have it relatively close to the throttle body. im sure that you know you usually have to buy the mounting flange for the BOV seperate from the valve istelf. i dont think i have seen the mounting flange included with the BOV before. have fun with it though man, i love mine and they sound awesome. good luck

Hi, yes this one did come with the mounting flange, i have to find a place to weld it on though. I want this BOV to be as loud as possible, so i will face it most likely towards the ground so the sound can get out from under the car instead of just hitting the hood and getting muffled. but either way i am sure its super loud.

Actually, if you want it to sound loud, facing it straight up would be better. I have my Greddy BOV facing up and sort of on an angle towards the driver side and it's pretty loud. It won't get muffled by the hood like you're thinking. Either way though, it'll be plenty loud.

My only thought on facing it up is if you go through a puddle and water gets trapped in it... or if moisture gets in it and freezes...

When we did Shifteds turbo setup. we originally had it facing forward but i mentioned that fact of what could happen if its raining and such and we faced it backwards....]

Just a thought...

yea, its an expensive part and i dont want to mess it up thats for sure, ill face it downwards and hopefully i shouldnt have problems. any ideas how much someone would charge to weld it on? thanks

I have mine mounted facing the transmission under the power steering pump and it's plenty loud. Teh HKS ssqv is the best bov in my opinion becasue of the design. Unlike other bov's the hks is held closed by boost which completly prevents it from leaking under boost.

As for placment, you can put it any where you want. Closer to the tb will be more responsive, but pre intercooler is more efficient. On my current set up I have had a few different bov's all pre intercooler and have never had any issues with barking the turbo. On the srt4's the stock bypass valve is actually bolted right to the turbo's compressor housing.
