Yesterday, I got a letter from Geico saying they won't renew my policy because my car is
customized. Even though its been like that for 6 years, and they told me I should put my bodykit and etc onto the policy which I never did. As far as I know they have no recent pics of my
customized car so I don't know what they think they know. I have no shaving, no molding, and no paint. Just wondering who this has happened to and what to do about it since Ive been with them for 9 years. 6 of which were with this car with some type of bodykit at all times. Pics of the
customized car....nullnull
Yes, just changed my insurance company last year for the same reason. You can be denied claims if you are in an accident and they find mods you did not declare. I declared my mods and I was dropped. Many insurance companies will refuse if they feel they are perforamance nehancing mods. Mine are all cosmetic so the new guys just wanted a list. You need a full appraisal to have coverage beyond what a regular cavalier is worth etc....
^^ good info

yeah geico told me the same thing then i was told my car was black listed by vin becuase of my mods. that flat out callled me a street racer becuase of my mods.
wow....I would flat out call another insurance company....
I have state farm....they dont really care all that much it seems...
when i had my black cav, i had a good amount of things done to it and i never reported any of it to my insurance company for that reason
Noe did I, and I even wrecked mine, they were just concerned on if the estimate was high enough to cover the custom parts....so they wrote me a bigger check...go figure.
Never had an issue with state farm. They even knew I raced it... lol

i added an extra $10k worth of coverage to mine...and notified Geico of all my parts, including air ride, rims, hood, my old cf trunk, system, right down to my paint. They were cool with everything, you just gotta tell them.
My insurance company covered everything with no extra cost or hassle at all. They would just come out and take new pics of my car whenever I upgraded it and were really nice about it. Check out Progressive.
Progressive is like double what Gieco is for most of my friends including me...
They have never given me one problem for add ons..but who knows
my tC isn't modded (except for the stereo) but I have 21st Century, which just merged with AIG. When Nationwide wanted to increase my rate to $1800 for 6 months for no reason, I went with 21st and paid $600 for 6 months, with the following coverages:
Bodily Injury Liability Limited Tort: 50,000/100,000
Property damage Liability: 50,000
First Party Benefits Limited Tort
Medical Benefits 5,000 each person
Income Loss each person 1,000/month / 5,000 total
Accidental Death 5,000 each person
Funeral Benefit 2,500 each person
Uninsured Motorist Bodily Injury 50,000 each person
Unstacked Limited Tort 100,000 each accident
Underinsured (same as Uninsured above)
$250 comprehensive deductible
$300 Collision deductible
Rental reinbursement $25/day $750 max
Towing and Labor $50 each disablement
It went up to $630, back down to $600 and now $596 for 6 months. Their customer service is freaking awesome, and if you hit hard times they really work with you. I don't have any experience with them as far as mods go (because I have none), but I don't see where that would be a problem with them? I'd give them a call and check them out.
*update* I just called them to check, 21st is only accepting new business in California and Florida, all new business in any other state should call or go to www.aigdirect.com I've never personally been happier with any other insurance company. They also offer referral bonuses, so if you go with them and give them my info I get $50, which I could split (hey it's almost a full tank of gas LOL).... so if you do PM me and I'll give you my policy number.
^^ a full tank on $25?
What, is it a 8 gallon tank?

Yeah i have progressive now and its cheaper than Geico. I can be happy again
Geico has never given me a problem with any of my vehicles. The Cavvy was never an issue but I was worried a few years ago about my '79 Suburban 6" lift and 35's and going way back to the '85 Camaro 350/M22 w/cage and 30" cheater slicks. According to Geico so long as you disclose the modifications and pay the extra policy costs (which amount to about $35 for 6 months), you can pretty much drive anything on the street so long as it passes state inspection. However if you get into an accident with a modded vehicle and you never reported those mods, not only can the insurance company refuse to pay, I found out that the medical coverage could be denied as well. When I bought my first motorcycle, I heard rumors and myths about medical insurance not covering you in case of an accident. I called Cigna the day I was going to the dealer to buy the bike and they said that so long as they know I have the bike and pay the increased premium (which hasn't increased yet) they can't deny coverage unless the bike was heavily modded. But again, Geico insisted that they know of any mods to the bike or they flat out said they wouldn't be obligated to pay in an accident.
esurance for the win! I don't even have to talk to anyone to add or remove a vehicle from my policy. It was also cheaper than geico, progressive, AIG, allstate, and whoever else I contacted.
I'm skeptical about the whole esurance thing. I'd rather know the person i am dealing with.
I have no idea who my insurance is through. I'm still under my parents till this fall, then I am screwed. But she's got the highest damn coverage possible since the thinks if i ever wreck, people are going to sue her for everything.
Like $500,000 - 1,000,000 is what we have on bodily injury and the rest is the max you can get for everything else. I pay right now $890 a year for being under her's and 22 yrs of age. Its been going down a little bit ever year since i was 18. Thank god.
