ok, i'm putting 2.3 HO cam in my 97 2.4l and was wondering where does the power steering pump is bolting to? i cant seem to see, maybe there is a bracket or something!!!
pics would help.
thanx
The pump itself bolt up to a piece that bolt over the bell housing. It's 2 bolts. you ahve one long stud in front to adjust the tension on the belt.

will it works on my 2.4 bell housing?
thanx
dont you have to modify the block to get this thing to fit? Thats what it looks like from the pics I have...

I'm surprised you show up to our meets after half of the things you say on here.
just went to the jubk yard and from what i have seen, it wont fit. the holes to bolt the bracket on the tranny are not there on mine. that sucks!!!!! i had already bought the pump and belt....
now i have to get the cam machine fot the hex drive......
now i dunno what to do....
the 2.3 pump wont bolr to my tranny and if i get the cam machined, the 2.4 pump wont bolt to the cam tower!!!!!!
anyone can help me and have a solution for this?
thanx
I think you also need the pre 95 cam tower. since the 95+ bolts to the tower itself.
post a pic of what all parts you have for the pump...after looking under my hood i see 2 bolts on the adjustment bracket that bolt to the tranny..but there are two other bolts i believe that bolt to the block
yes, i have both HO cams with tower. the pump from the 2.3 bolt to the tranny and the pump from the 2.4 bolt to the intake tower.
I'll check on my 2.4 with the 2.3 pump beside it. I can't understand why it can't bolt on. The bracket holding the pump bolt to the bell housing witch is the same for the 2.3 and 2.4. Once you have that bbracket, forget about the rest. There's a few bolt on the pump to adjsut it but that is all. One bracket goes on the tranny but it still work without it IIRC.

i dunno which bracket you are talking about.
i have the one that is on the side of the block. but today, i saw on a 2.3 (sohc tho, dunno if they are the same) there is another bracket on the other side, and also another one that goes under the intake mani and under teh first bracker on the block side!!!!
while you are looking at it, that would be nice if you ould take pics.
thanx alot!
this is what i have right now:

i also have the bracket on the other side. thats all...
dude..it looks like your missing a few pieces...theres a bracket that goes on the other side of the pump..THATS the one that bolts to the tranny ...ill pop my hood and take pics for you in just a few minutes ok...
yeah, i got that bracket too yersterday at the jubkyard!
but from looking at my tranny, it wont bolt there!!!!
any other thing i would need if it does fit?
thanx
ok then maybe its because the one i got and looked at was an sohc, because its different.
here is what the one i got yesterday look like:

bottom bolts are not at the same way...
also where does that peice bolt to?
will i need this other bracket?
I cant seem to find where this bracket bolts on my tranny. here is a pic of what my tranny looks like. I know its dirty, i have an oil leak somewhere and dont want to fix it since the new engine is coming in this week.

thanx for helping...
where do i get this, is it hard to hook up? is it specific for our engine or universal?
dude...i think i can see the two open bolt holes on your tranny for that bracket..as for the single bolt hole you have right now it looks like it bolts somewhere under the exhaust cam housing..maybe to the block..its hard to get to on my engine and i couldnt even take a pic....but as for the big bracket that you said you didnt have well..that long threaded rod you see on the back side of it does the adjustment for the belt aka tightens and loosens it.....but yea that back side bracket you have pictured there definetly wont work
allright, i'll try to find a 2.3 dohc around, they are damn rare in here!!!!!!!
if not, i'll have to get them from GM if they are still available.....
thanx

Nah, I think it's from an MR2 or something non-GM... you'd have to mod it to make it fit.
ok, well i search the junkyard today, called EVRYWHERE and 1 said to go see tomorrow.
the bracket need to come from a manual, auto are like i posted above.
that sucks....!!!!!!
I hate to bring up an old thread or to hijack a thread but I have a related question to this one.
I'm getting ready to swap out a 2.3 quad 4 out of a 95 Z24 with manual trans for a friend. The engine she got me is a 94 2.3 SOHC with automatic. The 95 quad 4 has the PS pump bolt directly to the back of the cam on the head with just two bolts. The 94 has a pulley and brackets. The 94 set up won't work with the manual trans because of the hydraulic lines. What can be done to the 94 engine to have the 95 PS pump bolt directly to the head?
why put a SOHC quad 4 (which had tons of issues), in a 95 Z24? for starters, the motors arent really all that closely related. The 95 has a hex hole in it for the PS pump, and not run off of a belt. Better off looking for a 95 Quad 4 (DOHC), or LD9, which is the 2.4L TwinCam.
