B&M shifter install?

Putting the B&M short throw shifter into the 05, and just have one question.

I have put one in the 01 Z-24 I had previously, and had one problem that I would like to avoid this time.

At the end of the shifter cables are plastic rectangular box connectors that connect the shifter to the cables. One of them cracked when I opened them on the 01.

I would like to know if there is a trick to opening those connectors without breaking them????

Thanks for the help!

The trick is to be very careful and to know when they are open and not try to force them further.

When the cover pops up about 1/4" or so, the rod will be free. That's all you need to do. Don't try to pop the cover up 90 degrees or anything.

Thanks Wild Weasel

I will be careful not to force them open too far.
