Dyno From your laptop with this software??
Tuesday, December 06, 2005 11:15 PM
i was looking through ebay and found this http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Windows-PC-Auterra-OBD-II-OBD2-2-Scan-Tool-Scanner-USB_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ43989QQitemZ4594906020QQrdZ1

i was wondering if u could really dyno your car and how just from this thing?

Looks like it uses some kind of mathematical equation with the right input variables which they say could give you an accurate reading.

Im downloading the demo now I'll have to check it out after work.

^whats the link for the demo? i tried a few softwares that would have dyno capabilities but thus far the ones i downloaded either i cant get to work properly or the software demos are junk. the ones i am currently using are only for reading trouble codes and other simple gauges like the O2 sensor temps(both), A/F, % TB, IAT temp, and so forth the auterra demo i had but i cant seem to understand it. theres another demo called the laptop dyno, again i cant seem to make good use of it. could anyone-sorry to thread jack-explain a faq/walkthrough on how to make the necessary adjustments to make it read dyno-est on such softwares like the auterra or laptop dyno? thanks in advance.

^A/F isn't a standard PID, so not a lot of softwares support it, and even less vehicles do. The software I'm writing should support it, as long as the vehicle does. It'll be in beta in 2 weeks.

^X2 let us know how and when the beta's up for usage plz *puppy eyes
as of now Digimoto has a demo out that calcs coolant temp, short and long term fuel % trim for bank 1, fuel pressure, IM Pressure, RPM and Speed are default given, IAT Temp, Absolute throttle position %, and some others. the visual is only in word and number form, no really large diagrams to glance at when and if while driving. i also use a smaller shareware called Scantool. very simple software and i like this one the most thus far. laptop dyno i cant seem to get it to operate correctly. IMO i am looking for a software-either shareware or freeware or umm *cough copy of full version that has 1/4, 0-60, R/T, and such like other dynos have. if shifted can get something like what dynos have sh!t im interested.

OMFG................

okay ..... GP ???/

haha Im in ... FO SURE..... so from what I read... this thing can do like a wideband reading if you get a sensor ???
it says A/F vs. RPM....

super easy to tune SAFC with this program ........

^i dont think you can do any 'tuning' with what shifted is programming. corerct me on this shifted, but only to visibly show what the pcm is reading from the whole vehicle, in human terminology. like all the other softwares out there, laptop dyno, auterra, scantool, and what not. i did ran across a software that had the ability to adjust rpm shift points, and i believe fuel amount on the camaros. If shifted does make a program with the capabilities like the SAFC, e-manage, or the 'Wideband'(just heard about this one folks-plz elaborate on this for me ^^....again unless shifted explains a bit more on what exactly he's doing(dont keep us in the dark shifted!!!), im only basiing this on opinion, so no offense. in any case good luck on the project....i am positive i want in on this if the deal's right.

What he means is that he wants to use the engine data in conjunction with a wideband signal to tune his SAFC. You are right in saying that this software will not do any tuning what-so-ever, although it has been an idea of mine for quite some time to add an SAFC tuning "wizard" of sorts.

As it is currently, it won't be able to accept a wideband signal, but I will inquire to the guy who makes our cable if it is possible to add a 5v programmable input so it can do exactly what you are asking.

To answer your other question, this will be payware, and I haven't decided on a pricing structure yet, to answer your next question
