I just have a few questions that aren't covered in the write up I am using to do the swap.
First once you take off the stock intake box, what do you do about the hole in the front right by the battery under the fuse box? Do you just cover it with a plug?
Second I was reading that you need two gasket kits for the manifold when you are using the adapter flange. Is this True?
Third, Do I need to get a gasket kit for the 2.3 L throttle body?
Thanx in advance.
you can plug it, its not going to do any harm though
as for gaskets, i made my own, just got some gasket material and cut it out.
i think the gasket material was called mr. gasket...
hope that helps.

Portage, MI
this is how mine is set up
2.3L Manifold -----> 2.3L gasket ------> Phenolic Spacer (thanks Chris!) ------> another 2.3L gasket --------> Engine.
That's how I have it.
you have to cut the 2.3L gasket slightly to get it to fit. Same rule applies. just expand the hole downward and then the screws will slide through. I used a little gasket maker to hold it all together.
Good luck.
OK well I would rather just buy another 2.3 l gasket kit. But for the gasket on the 2.4L side does that mean I need one 2.3 L gasket and one 2.4 L gasket?
And what about the throttle body itself? Does that need a gasket?
the 2.4L gasket is like.. a plastic substance and won't fit is what I'm told. just use a 2.3's that's what I did.
and yes the TB needs a gasket also. 2.3L TB gasket
ok so two 2.3 L gaskets...the one on the 2.3 L side will fit fine except for the cutting of the bolt holes. Then a 2.3 gasket kit for the 2.4 side and cut it to fit the holes and the manifold adapter plate itself. Right?
each gasket will go 1 on both sides of the adapter plate.
meaning Gasket - Plate- Gasket.
so it should be
Manifold (gasket) plate (gasket) Engine.
alright sounds good thanx for the help once again guys...
ohh one more thing the plug for the hole under the fuse box..where can I get one? napa, canadian tire?
Don't need to plug the hole.
If you look, in there is actually the second half of your factory air box.
Unless you've removed it already.
If you were stock, and got an Induction Dynamic, or the RK CAI extension (aka Vibrant 2.2L intake), then you would shove the piping down there.
So the hole is fine, won't hurt anything.

What i did was use a copper RTV silicone put it on the manifold and on the engine side of the adapter flange. But i would buy the gasket, since it comes with a manifold gasket and a TB gasket (they are about $6) just go to a parts store and tell them you want a gasket for any car that came with the HO motor (i told them i wanted one for a 1990 beretta GTZ)
That whole is fine, if you want you can run your intake down into there for a CAI.

I already bought a 2.3 L manifold gasket and it never came with a tb gasket.
thats odd, what brand was it. I bought mine at an autoparts store and it was $6-$8 and came with one. think it was fel-pro brand

If you go to Advance Auto, you can get the TB gasket for like less than $2.
If not,its the Felpro like he said, comeswith both for like $8.
