You need a 1995 intake cam only (it drive the PS pump). Most use exhaust cam from a LO 2.3L engine. I have some specs here.

1995 intake cam specs
200 degrees @ .050" with .360" lift
LD2 (1990+) exhaust cam specs
200 degrees @ .050" with .375" lift

Stock 2.4 LD9 Cam Specs
198 degrees @ .050" with .354" lift for the intake
187 degrees @ .050" with .346" lift for the exhaust

Stock 2.3 1995 Cam Specs
**200 degrees @ .050" with .360" lift for the intake**
200 degrees @ .050" with .360" lift for the exhaust

Stock 2.3 LD2 (1990) Cam Specs
200 degrees @ .050" with .375" lift for the intake
**200 degrees @ .050" with .375" lift for the exhaust**

As you can see the exhaust cam from a 1995 2.3L is nearly the same as the LO 2.3L
except for the lift, the '95 have 0.015'' less than the LO.

The 1995 exhaust cam have the same specs as the intake, so you can match them with no probleme and those cams are a way better than the LD9 2.4L.

I think you can use them with your stock computer with no problem.

Go to NY J-Body for more infos on secret cams swap.

If you want 1995 cams, I have it.

^^^^ What he said. Except one thing he can not use the LO intake cam one reason 95 plus has a lobe on it for the cam sensor 95 up had a cam sensor. If you use any cam before 95 on the intake you will have to use have a cam lob for the sensor machined on.

Re: secret cams

no reflash, might consider changing your timing chain tensioner and water pump while your in there if you havent already done so. You'll definetly enjoy the extra pull with the cams.

Whats this about the cam carriers, are they needed two, or just the two cam sticks?

Re: secret cams
Wednesday, August 31, 2005 8:28 PM
just the cams themselves are needed no carriers unless you want to use the HO exhaust cam then you need the HO carrier and lifters but you dont need anything but the "sticks" as you called them lol.

Gotcha, thanks! Now, to find a set at a decent price, and to install them without my warranty company knowing... Arent other breathing mods recommended first, ie I/H/E and maybe a TB, or do they work well on a stock setup minus the Bong?

You wont feel the true gain from the cams until you do the exhaust/header and intake, but still you'll notice the difference im sure.

Removing the bong won't do you any good with the secret cams setup. You need to lose some exhaust restriction and increase the intake velocity. You won't beed a larger TB for a while.

$1050.00 + $100.00 core charge not sure if thats US or canadain

RSM Performance Cams
15-18 HP increase, 410 lift and 220 duration.
Cam carrier core charge applies, uses stock
filters.

If you ask me, 15-18 HP is not nearly enough to justify almost $1200.00

Re: secret cams

that is US. I think you are better of with the secret cam swap.

Actually, you need the Cam, Lifters & Tower from 1990 Pontiac Grand Am 2.3D Motor.
& the Intake Cam & Lifters from 1995 Pontiac Grand Am 2.3D Motor

If you don't use the correct corresponding lifters, you won't get significant gains,
& furthermore they might bind. The lifters from a 2.4 exhaust cam housing are
much smaller than the ones in the 2.3 you are taking it out of. YOU MUST
MATCH THE LIFTERS WITH THE CAM. I cannot stress this enough. So what you
need to do it use the WHOLE Exhaust cam housing with the cam & lifters in it
from the 2.3. It will bolt right on. The only thing you may have to do is plug is an oil
pressure sensor hole. I used a brass threaded plug.

^^ Are yuou sure.....Cause no where else have I read that. Only that the 2.3 has like 2mm bigger lifters and that the 2.4 lifters would work just fine unless you were using the HO cams which require the whole tower.... I am 99% positive that others have had perfect success with using 2.4 lifters and towers.

Well, I"m using a mis matched profile in my ride right now.

.375 lift intake cam, 33mm lifters and tower
.375 lift exhaust cam, 35mm lifters and tower

No problems.

I was told this by NUMEROUS people before doing both my swaps.
& especially one person in peticular that has built several Quad 4's

The secret cams do not require the carriers and lifters..............I have done 2 sets and no one I know has ever used the carriers, the only way you need the carriers and lifters is if you want to use HO cams but it is not necessary for the regular 2.3 cam secret cam swap.
