Will I see a noticeable increase in performance from the 1:6 roller rockers....
I thought that the 2200 had 1.6:1 roller folcrum rockers from the factory?
I know the older 2.2L LN2s had 1.52 non roller rockers and that the 1.6 rockers make a big diff on them cuzz I have them. But I did not know you could even get them for the 2200?

For...? An article discussing the rocker ratio? I found nonexistent pictures of valve covers, nonexistent pictures of gmpp rockers, and a pic of modified factory valve cover for the Crane rockers, but no article. How about a pointer?

theres no article, i actually went out to their open house last year. crane did the footwork for em.
i went out there to check out their shop. G howell has done quite a bit for the 2200;s especially. as well as i got to test their pushrods
but on the rockers, i was the one that sent him spare rocker arms for him to tech out along with spare pushrods.

Ahh.
Well, do you know if anyone has finished this research with regards to actual cam and valve lift for the 2200? If the rocker ratio is smaller than listed, something else has to be off, too.

call up gary howell, him and dave maxwell worked on the entire project.
i supplied em with parts, cam, rocker arms, pushrods, springs, retainer.....
they also have a car, but they did the ground work.
only problem is, he doesnt post much here cause the post was up to 5 pages long, so many people wanted this and that, but not many stepped up when things were for sale.

I'm not too big on this type of thing. Time is $$, and I'd rather not burn up Howell's time answering questions. I know how frustrating it can be.

I've got no problem using the search button if I have an idea that the info is in the archives.
Thanks for the links.

where can you purchase those roller rockers from above. Im pulling my head soon and tb and im sending them out for port and polish. Im going to have my tb ported to match my head. Going to clean my pistons off at the time too, and was lookign at upgrading my roller rockers.

click on the many links i already just posted in this thread, or check the FAQ at the top with the lists of places for howell automotive.
Where are you taking your head to get ported?
275hp & 306tq - 1999 2.2 ohv
13.2 @ 108 mph
-1996 2.4 liter + Turbo + Built motor + Torco + More boost = Lots o' Power
-2000 Mustang GT + 2004 Cobra motor, Whipple 2.3 supercharger,
built rear-end,Dodge Viper spec T56 6 speed, bolt-ons = wheelies at the track!!!!!
adler,
i found a local guy who runs a machine shop that said he would do it for me. Hes got 30 years experience. He quoted me $275, without the tb, but now i want to do the tb to match the head.
those are purdy! then again... they are just going to get covered in oil anyways.

They might get covered in oil, but all that purdy work is for a reason. Crane's been making these things for many years, they are of excellent quality.
The quality machine finish is to reduce the stress risers, to prevent fracturing. The anodized finish, reduces work hardening in the surface, which leades to embrittlement of the surface, which could lead to fracturing and resists scartches which could lead to a stress riser.
All that, let alone the quality of the extruded aluminum, accuracy of the machine work on them, top quality bearings, etc... They are worth the extra $$ for the quality you get with them.
Nothing against the quality of the Comp Cams Magnum, which are excelent though. Or Harland Sharpe, Jessell, etc...
I cen tell they are a better designed rocker arm than the Comp Cams Magnum.
