is it any good, what header do you all suggest, new project finished 98 cavi turbo'd, now a nitrous injected 98 sunfire, thanks john
i'm running the stainless 4-2-1 OBX header in my car. the b pipe they sent me measured to a 2.5" diameter, so i'm basically running a full 2.5" exhaust right now (including my 2.5" test pipe). The install was pretty easy, I didn't even have to remove my starter bracket or the starter itself. Pulling the alternator was the only "pain in the ass" from what i remember.

i heard the obx was just a copy of the pacesetter design, i think i read that somewhere on here... me personally id go w/ a pacesetter one... but if you could find the obx for cheap i see no reason not to buy it, unless someone could correct me if i'm wrong...

i'm a little more fond of the quality of my OBX than the quality of a few other pacesetter products i have seen and installed.

well im in no way implying that it is a bad header or the quality isnt good.. im just saying i heard it was a copy of the pacesetter... and trust me if i could find one for cheap i'd get one myself, but i'm more than likely just gonna get a pacesetter cuz i can get one for pretty cheap...

OBX is typically known to "copy" other designs... but hey a design is a design. it either works or it doesn't. it either matches ports or it doesn't. and it either fits or it doesn't.

So I guess that neither the OBX or pacesetter match up to the #4 exhaust port then, lol. I had to modify my OBX to match up properly, but other than that, I love the quality. The welds were pretty good (and I'm a meticulous welder myself, I only touched up 2 or 3 spots with the ol TIG welder) And the stainless steel is a good grade.
I've put just over a bottle of nitrous through it now at the 100 hp level and the stainless is still straw colored (not blue like crappy stainless would turn) with only a hint of strawberry color right at the ports.
For me, having the benefit of stainless steel is worth it, you won't have to worry about it getting all rusted out and crappy looking for a long time. Plus, my OBX header was only $180 shipped to my door from ebay. But it's the 4 into 1 instead of the 4 into 2 into 1, I think for serious nitrous applications though, 4 into 1 is probably the right choice. You'll benefit from the top end capabilities of the 4 into 1 with nitrous since you don't need to boost midrange torque if you're already spraying.

well that makes sense. 4-1 is for top end gains, which is where nitrous is typically used. my 4-2-1 stainless steel header came all shiny and purdy. it went in on a friday night, including my messup with the catalytic converter flange so i had to get a test pipe made so i could get everything bolted up. not quite lol. the next morning i drove the car... running exhaust dumping out the end of the b pipe... to my local shop where they welded everything up and finished some finishing touches. and that afternoon driving the car around letting it get hot and cool off, get hot and cool off, tightening everything down again to avoid leaks etc etc, the header got a BEAUTIFUL gold color to it. but months later, it now just has the stainless steel look with wierd color spots of like purple and green and all the cool stuff that stainless steel does. it's a good product.

then i go with obx then thanks for the info john
