My daughter's 2000 Z24 is leaking oil badly and is coming from where the long axle enters the transmission ( trans-axle I guess). I believe must be a problem with the rear axle seal and this is where it is exiting the transmission. Are these cars prone to this type of problem? Would there be any reason this occurred. Car has about 75,000 miles.
Thanks
No they are not prone to this problem but it does happen. Usually it wills start with a small drip and progressively get worse. They are not too hard to change yourself. I don't know if you are a home mechanic or not but you need to remove the axle and then pop the old seal out and replace with new.
A mechanic should be able to do it in less than 2 hours labor time. The part is not very much, maybe $20.
