horn issues
Sunday, August 10, 2008 5:58 PM
Ok, I bought a replacement horn twice already. I hook it up and all is fine, horn works great, but it seems after a heavy rain or a trip to the car wash, the horn becomes weaker and weaker. It sounds like it has tiny heart syndrome. Can anyone give me advice on how to keep water out of the darn thing to keep a good operating horn? I know this is my issue, and it is becoming pretty annoying. Any ideas are great. I have tried turning the horn mounting bracket so there is less water going inside the horn and it helped, but it was inevitable that water would get into it and ruin it again.

Is the splash shield there underneath the horn? Don't know if ur car is the same, but my 04 is supposed to have a splash shield on the bumper that keeps water out of there, and mine is missing too...

Probably not, my inner fenders are gone on the car, so that is probably what I need to invest in to fix the problem. I will try other ways until I get the splash shield. Is it mounted on, or close to the horn? Or what? Where is it located and what does it look like?

I'm not positive if yours would be the same being a 98, but on my 04 it looks like a single piece that connects to the bumper, and possibly the fender well, and protects the spot where the horn is mounted... I'd get a pic butmine is missing too so probably wouldn't do any good

Well, in that case, mine is not there, because all of what you stated is gone! I will try to jerry rig something to help me out. But thanks for the info!
