Easy Shorty antenna install (Tutorial)

I dont know if anyone has posted this before but I bought a cheap shorty antenna from wal-mart...looked like this and cost me 9 dollars or something

Anywhoo, It says its a simple install only requiring 1 cut. I found a way to do it without cutting or drilling anything. This is probably the next easiest install after just screwing on a stock vette antenna.
So here it goes...

1 Remove Stock antenna (Outside part, the actual antenna) using an 8 or 9 mm wrench.
2. Peel Carpet back from the inside of the trunk.
3. Loosen 2 bolts (7mm) that hold the antenna bracket to the inside of the trunk.
3. Wiggle the lower antenna bracket until it slides out of the rubber gromet in the body of the car.
4. Take new shorty antenna and remove it from its base, its just screwed on.
5. Find a bolt to fit the base of the short antenna stud, will probably require a trip to the hardware store for most of you.-
6. Screw the bolt halfway onto the shory antenna so that half the threads are still exposed.
7. Screw the shorty antenna and bolt onto the stock antenna bracket, they're the same size, tighten everything..
8. Make sure rubber antenna grommet is stil installed in the antenna hole in the body
9. Put the shorty antenna through the rubber gromet and simply pull it through the stock rubber grommet. (It is a tight fit which may require some lube
10. You wont be able to install both bolts to hold the antenna bracket into the body unless you drill a hole, (One holds itt just fine)
-Just tighten it up and Wa-lah.

Seems like lately God has been made obsolete by welfare.

Seriously though, I still poke around these forums even though last Fall marked the first time I had even changed a tire. Oddly, it coincided with the purchase of my MR7 rims. I managed to crossthread and mangle most of my rear wheel studs. Some would question what business I have even touching a car, but I learned from the error and didn't repeat the mistake.

Bottom line -- what better vehicle for the inept to tinker with? There isn't anything on these cars that can't be found in quantity at any auto wrecker, and even new parts tend to be cheap.

x2

i know some people here who can wire in accessory lights and have put on a/m antennas.. and well if u cant figure it out im sorry for ya cuz then ur making these couple guys look really smart.. there not.. but ur def making em look like it

and i agree with Darkstars.. i hate those thick rubber ones.. The stock one looks so much better..(to me, dont get a panty bunch) thats why i spent $20 on a good antenna instead of a ugly fat one

Why would you say cars with body kits look bad... are you serious? to each their own but i mean woah

Body kits are retarded. They serve no function other than making your car look gawdier than a normal cavalier.

Your car looks like it runs 10's but It'd probably be lucky to break 15's

So why bother coming to a J-Body modding forum if you're just going to bash things that people do?

Well im not trying to impress you or anything, I put looks over speed. Alot of people would rather have a nice looking car over a faster car.

BUT since you wana tell me why my car isnt up to par...

I think having a "Anodized blue fire extinguisher" in a car is stupid, so lets call it a day and move on.

Hey, I agree 100%. Thats why I'm doing looks above anything else. Speeds costs a lot of money, and I don't feel like going into chapter 11/13 over modding a car, lol
