ok, im still debating on my paint situation...i would like to have the white j owners (preferrably the ones who stayed with their stock 95-99 white paint) to chime in and give advise here for me please. im trying to find out of my white paint will match. so, please tell me your stories and such, and please comment. thanks.
please read this post and you will better understand:

ok so why start this thread if this is what your other thread is talking about?
like nikki said, its going to be noticible if you paint the other pieces and dont blend it. white is hard to paint match and blend.
to me after reading that thread it seems like your way too anal and need to have things done one certain way. if thats the way you want it done then do it because other people in that thread gave you options but you shot them down
Ive had my car in the paint booth about 5 times now.. I had different parts painted until the last time 2 years ago when I said F-it and I had the whole car painted.. It was soo hard to get the whites to match the previous 4 times because I changed body parts those 4 times.. This 5th time I went with a bright white and now all my paint matches.. Like said, its real hard to match white..
If you have a white car and are changing body parts Id go ahead and get the whole car painted unless the painter is damn sure he can match the paint.

well, basically it was to get the white J owners' attention, as i didnt seem to grasp it in the other post, im sorry to have made some other's time wasted.
its not wasted but you had your answer in the other thread. paint matching white is going to be hard and if its slightly off its going to be noticible. anytime a color is slightly off its pretty noticible. your best bet is to get the whole car painted. if you car was originally white, then just get the outside of the car resprayed. no need to do the engine bay and jambs
well, i wanted to get some opinions of white car owners that have painted there cars... with matching paint etc, not just the whole car.
and IMO, i cant just paint the whole car, i would have to take all the glass out to do it right. and i dont have $10,000 for a paint job.
i do realize that its going to be the shops opinion, and nobody here can really give me an exact idea, but like i said, i know theres ppl on here with white cars that have had things painted to match and have came out looking excellent. so its their opinions im looking for.
Whooaaa, just to give you an Idea of repainting whole cars.. I had my locks, handles and antenna shaved, poppers installed all for $1900.00. I know every shop is different but really, if you research your area paintjobs are not that expensvie..
Its harder for us older WHITE J cars because duh our cars are so old.. But for the new white J-bodies Im sure they can get the paint to match quite well..
My bodyshop guy told me I must of gotten the bottom of the barrel paint because it was a 'creamy' looking color.. He couldnt match any of his 20 or so something samples of white with my old factory paint.. I couldn't believe it..

I AM PUTTING THIS IN CAPS TO GET YOUR ATTENTION SO YOU LISTEN TO WHAT IS BEING SAID.
YOU DO NOT
HAVE TO TAKE OUT THE WINDOWS TO HAVE YOUR CAR REPAINTED RIGHT.
99.9% OF THE TIME SHOPS DO NOT AND WILL NOT TAKE OUT WINDOWS IF IT'S NOT NEEDED.
USUALLY THE ONLY CARS THAT "NEED" TO HAVE THE WINDOWS TAKEN OUT TO BE PAINTED IS STREET RODS AND TOP NOTCH SHOW CARS. IF YOU THINK A TOP NOTCH SHOW QUALITY JOB ISN'T GOING TO RUN 10K YOU'RE OUT OF YOUR MIND.
YOU CANNOT GET A SHOW QUALITY JOB CHEAP.
Either do it right or don't do it at all. If you're so anal you HAVE to have your windows taken out, then expect to pay.
But if you want advice LISTEN to what people are telling you... or don't post at all. If you "cheap out" and just paint the parts and not blend it at LEAST, then you're going to get a crappy paintjob that doesn't match. If you want to do that fine go ahead, I'm done "talking to a wall".
Quality work = more $$ if you want a good job be ready to fork out the extra cash or don't do it at all.
you can get quality, cheap, quick paintjobs. but you can only have 2 of three

My car may run 18s, but I can do your taxes in 10 seconds flat.
JBO lube - they would never have enough in stock and we'd never see RodimusPrime again
^^ Yeah thats what happend to me and my old skirts lol... Car didnt match the new paint.
Btw I only had my door windows takin out, like said its up to the painter and how much money you wanna pay.

Im so glad I do my own bodywork and painting
Machzel08 wrote:you can get quality, cheap, quick paintjobs. but you can only have 2 of three
That is only true if you have "industry connections".
Unless you're referring to the only one listed there that is plausible... which would be cheap and quick... but quality CANNOT go hand in hand with quick and cheap... unless you have "connections"
Want it to all match and be cheap?
Do what I did for my black car.....buy 24 cans of spray paint and go to town. Then its cheap and all matches.
Otherwise stop crying like a fuqqin school girl and either get the whole thing painted, or deal with your bad decision of only painting part of the car.
wahhhh
god...whoever read that im "cheaping" out is seriously demented. im paying $2300, for side skirts, bumpers, door handles, and trunk lid to be painted. how is that "cheaping" out?
and like ive said along the lines...IM GOING TO HAVE A TEST PIECE PAINTED TO SEE IF IT WILL EVEN MATCH if not... the stock kit goes back on and i continue losing car shows.
u ppl have NO idea how anal i am with my car. im not going to just "cheap out, paint it and go" im not like that. if it wont work, it simply...wont work.
also... to have MY car done the way I WANT... it would be completly stripped down to NOTHING, no wiring, NOTHING... and be comepletly media blasted, undercarriage and all. but let us be realistic, thats not going to happen for 20 years, if ever.
(and that 10,000 i was referring to, was JUST the paint work etc... not including everything else there FALLEN ANGEL)
im done arguing with the gurus of JBO... im going to find out myself if i can match it, and if i cant... like i said, thats going to suck, but it will be fine. i will save my $2300 and add the rest over the next 20 years.
sounds like you wanted to hear it will match, but instead you heard the truth...it won't.
^^^ exactly
what part of white is the hardest to match dont you understand? we all told you the same thing. your anal about it and so instead of getting it painted and blended your gonna choose not to paint it if it doesnt match. oh well, its not my car and i dont make the decisions. good luck with it and hopefully it turns out pretty good
my front bumper and skirts that i had painted off the car last year were a bit off, and i really could only notice it in the right light. granted its blue so its a little easier to not notice. it was funny cuz people use to compliment how good the paint was, and id apparently be the only one to notice. guess i just nit pick on my car, lol
im sure they should be able to get it close enough to where you wont notice until u really get to staring at it and picking stuff out

when u have a 9 year old white car and have painted the pieces i am referring to match, you can talk smack, but until then... mind your own business.

Yes, but his car is blue.
We got paint from GM to paint pieces on my car. The same numbers and everything that is listed for the car. Painted it and even though it pretty much looked the same, you could tell there was a difference.
There are SOOOO many different shades of white that without painting the whole car, it is never gonna be the exact same shade of white.
If you want to be anal about it and have the windows come out and everything, do it yourself. Take the windows out and mask it yourself.
Even if you get a test piece painted, your not gonna be able to tell how much of a difference until it's actually on the car.

are you @!#$ retarded?
what eazy said is the same thing everyone has been telling you. its hard to match white and there will probably be a slightly varation in the paint. what more can you possibly need to hear other than "yes it will match perfectly because everything in the world is perfect"
the odds of it matching pefect are slim. we all told you the best way to get it done so you wont be able to tell that something was freshly painted is to get the whole car sprayed but your too anal about how everything has to be done so you wont do that. so you tell me, what else do we have to explain for you since your too @!#$ stupid to understand simple things.
ive explained im going to have a test peice done several times, what more do you need?
i havnt said im doing anything of the sort of actually painting my peices now have i?
