i work at a volvo dealer...in the parts dept. i know some of the new XC90's have what volvo calls bi-xenon headlights...are they waht the aftermarket calls HID?? can i rip the prjoectors out of busted headlamps of any volvo models and retrofit them in my 02 cavalier?? does anyone know what volvo models have or dont have hids??

yes sir. the bi-xenon means that they are high beams, and low beams in each projector. so, when you turn on your high beams, the cut off shield flips down to expose all of the light output from the projector.
yes, you can mount projectors into your 00-02 cav. but due to the fact that they are bi-xenon, you now have much more to work with that will be mounted to the back of the headlight. the proper way to mount them would be to mount them inside the headlight rather than the back. that way you know you have plenty of room behind the headlight to plug the ballasts onto the bulbs. BUT, mounting them inside the headlight AND look good will be very hard. but i can make them look good for you if you want. i can mount them inside the lights, and then form a sheet of plastic around the whole project. then cut, trim, mount,, mount a nice chrome shroud, and then mount the lens. not hard at all (if you have what i've got), and can be done in less than 2 days. let me know if you have any other questions about this via email at: Joshua@IznTrbl.Com.
as for what models of volvo have HID's or not, you should be able to find out very easily since you work at the volvo dealer.

As for what volvo models have HID... I appologize if this is incorrect, though I'm sure someone will correct me if it is.. but I believe the only Volvo model that has HID headlights standard is the S60R. Otherwise I think they are all halogen UNLESS the car has the bi-xenon projectors which are powered by HID, and are offered as an option for most models. To be sure if the vehicle has HID though, you can easily tell if just by looking at the bulb. If it is long and skinny it is HID, halogen is fat and stubby. They are very dissimilar in appearance.
i know the XC90's and the new S80's have this bi-xenon crap thing...and they charge 1,000 dollars a headlight for them... so i figgerd id ask...i should have known better than to just email you izn trbl...thanks guys!! if i get ahold of them...maybe ill just ship them to you, and you can do it cuz it sounds pretty goddamn harder than standard projectors!!
