trunk lid alingment
Wednesday, August 09, 2006 5:31 AM
I noticed a while ago my trunk lid is off center..... It rubs slightly on the passanger side... my question is how do i center it back up.... I tried moving the hinge, turning the knobs on the bottom, i loosen the bolts up that hold it to the arms but that didnt do much.

its a pain in the ass, i have to do it all the time when i swap trunk lids for inspection. basically your gonna have to loosen all 4 bolts so their loose enough that you can move the lid. then from there lower the lid like you are gonna close it but just sit it down on the latch, then you can look at both sides and see how far you need to move it over on either side. once you got that, just hold the lid and open it back up then put a bolt in each side, then just close it again to double check. if its good then you can put the other 2 bolts in and tighten it up. thats how i do mine

when i swapped my shaved trunk, i didnt put the latch on till last. but i put the trunklid closed with a box on it to keep it down. then used wood mixing sticks and set the gap on the sides and had it sitting like it needed.. crawled in through the backseat and just tightened all the bolts from inside the trunk. crawled out, lifted it up installed latch and then shut it and it worked perfect..

i tend to just loosen the bolts up barely, this way its not moving all over the place, takes a good smack to move a bit lower the hood see wich way it needs to go then just tap it over, check it again till its right then lift and tighten. took me maybe 10 minutes to do by myself.

I just folded my seats down and crawled into my trunk, closed the lid and had my friend stand outside and align it then when it was ready I tightened the bolts down.

sits back and waits to hear "whos fonzy"
