what are you doing that you need a flip down plate???

i would use piano hinges to attach it on the bottom and then use a power ant motor to push it down....that would be easiest

why do you want one? trying to run from the cops?

I have one I can sell to you, but you'll have to buy the missle conversion also.

Are you talking about the kind that minitruckers use? If so, then how about this?

They've also fabbed them up to hide inside the actual body instead of under the vehicle.

He wants to hide his plate because all cops are pricks that just don't want his car to look "so cool" with his uber-sweet tinted license plate cover.

What bumper do you have, as far as I remember, under the liscense plate is pretty damn ugly on J's.

You done something custom?

ok...i have a 2002 z24/ls sport rear bumper that will be going on soon....
stock 95-99z front bumper with the front plate delete panel. what i want to do is in the rear have the plate flip down underneath the lip. same on the front.

im going to have a custom plate made for the stock location in the rear and have the tinted cover over it

so when i drive, plates down, shows-plates up.

im sure nobody has fought this badly for one tinted licence plate cover..but im anal, i really like the way they look

I think I'm allowed to answer their questions. It's not their fault (or mine) that you really seem to believe the cops are out to get you for modding your econobox. If you think that's "ragging on you" I guess I can't do anything about that.

ok so your gonna drive around w/ the plates flipped down?

yea thats gonna go over good when i cop turns off a side street and get behind you. i think your taking a 10 dollar plate cover way too far. if you wanna spend money on doing this then go head but i think its not worth it

you really can't escape from something like that. If you really like it, put it on at car shows or something. If you have been pulled over for it, your screwed. Its not like tinted windows where you can roll it down when u see a cop. If you choose to flip it down when you see a cop, then your chances of getting pulled over have just skyrocketed. And jimmyz, i have been pulled over more then once while obeying the law because of the way my car looks.

ok, i dont think im getting my point across....

while i drive through my town my plates will be down.... at shows i will have them pulled up.

lol, and its not even a $10 peice, its more like $3

but thats ok...it helps the look of the car i think.

no i got your point, it was just a horrible one. so just because you wanna save a 3 dollar plate cover your gonna fab up this whole thing so you can drive around w/ no plate but at car shows put it up to just show off the plate cover? thats like people buying the led washer nozzle lights and think they are gonna get points at shows for them. i dont know, if thats what you want go for it but it seems like alot of work for something thats not a big deal

I thought that he was saying that he was going to put his regular tag in it's regular spot (with no tag cover) and ANOTHER custom tag in the hideaway spot w/the tag cover over it and only have it showing at car shows.

I don't know...I'm confused. When I got pulled over for it, I just took mine off...and that was back in 2002.

I guess I just don't see the big deal w/it. I certainly wouldn't go thru all that trouble just to be able to keep it.

Hey guy,,,
I read your other post and commented on it. I forgot to mention that you can not have three license plates.
I'm sure everybody knew that. Once you tell DMV that one or two plates are lost, it's going to be entered into the system as "Lost or Stolen" because you can't prove either. So if you did that....I feel sorry for you.

Wait i think its his car and he can do what he wants. Same concept of all the people that dont want a front plate to drive around with. Same concept of when i had my static tint, got pulled over, took it off before he got behind me, he told me to roll up my windows, so i did, no tint. Went home put it back on. So basically they could say you dont have a front plate, hit the button before he gets there, yes i do, go ahead and look. boom plate is there, cops on his way.
