Don't know what forum to put this in as a question, since technically it can go into 3/4 forums here? So I'll ask in a general area, lol.
Recently I had an offer fall through with the rims that came on the 03-05 Cavalier's that were the spoke rims. This girl I know has an 04 with the rims and sport suspension, and mine is an 05 with the stock 14's with stock suspension. Since she is going to be trading her Cavalier in soon, we were going to do a trade for my rims and tires for hers and for some money too. Well, on the last day this was supposed to happen, she backed out claiming it wouldn't work cause she "read issues on this". The issues . . .
1) "The Sport Suspension wouldn't work" : I don't see why as both the stock 14's and the 16 inch rims still bolt on to the same 5 bolt pattern. The suspension is just how firm the car is to the ground as far as I know.
2) "The Speedometer would have to be recalibrated" : I really don't think so since it is only going from 16's to 14's. The change would be so small it wouldn't be noticable. When I was going to switch to 18's, I was told I'd possibly have to, but thats going up by 4 inches, which is different then 2.
Am I right here? Would there be any issues switching the rims from an 04 with the sport suspension, to an 05 with the standard suspension, and vice versa? I really want these rims, and if I can convince her, using you Cavalier gods, then maybe I can get something going here, lol.
Thanks guys!
Look in the wheel and tire forum or go
to tire calculator.

Well, the same people that ae in this forum are the same guys that are in that forum, so whats the difference? Besides, like I said, this is an exterior topic, it can be general, suspension, or wheel and tire, so what does it matter which forum the answer comes from?
That tire link helps out a nice amount. I just need to snag the numbers off of her tires to double check that. The suspension question is still up in the air though.
The rims will fit; the bolt pattern is the same and the speedo will not be affected by the LS rims. She probably just didn't want to deal with a trade or thought she was getting 'screwed'.

Blown.
The speedo is not affected if you get the right sized tires. That way, the size of the rim changes, but not the diameter of the tire. For each larger diameter rim, you get a smaller diameter tire, and that keeps the speedo in check.
Basically everything she was thinking is wrong, the rims would work, the suspension would be fine.
