Just recently, yesterday, 5/18/06 my car was vandalized! In my school parking lot no less!!!! The Bastards broke my front drivers side window. My 95 Cavi had tints on all 4 windows but that didnt stop the window from collapsing from the force of the blow. I never thought someone would want to break into a Cavalier! I dont have rims, Ive traded paint a couple of times, not a show car. However, nothing was taken (prolly cause there was nothing in there to take, it still has a tape deck for cryin out loud).
I plan on really taking this car to higher levels, I already have:
MSD coils,
Accell 8.5 wires,
Bosch platinum 2 spark plugs,
Tokico Dspecs, Suspension Technique Springs
Not much, I know, but working on the "GO", then the "SHOW". when I get to the "SHOW" however, It seems like an alarm system wont be enough. Thats why I started to look at assault proof glass, or bulletproof glass.
If anyone has any knowledge of this stuff, sound in, cause if this has happened to you, you already know how I feel, and if it hasn't, lets try to make it so it doesnt!
(Thanks for reading and or responding, I needed to vent)

its a cavalier, an 11 year old cavalier at that. the money you waste on that, youd better of buyin' a new car
would it really be that expensive!? & Chris, I wish it were that simple, then i could narrow it down but, I wasnt the only one, like 3 other people gotthere cars busted, Maybe they are offended by tints!
i was watching TV and that bullet proof glass is extremely heavy from waht i saw and heard. i say just park ur car in more secure areas like closer to the door and get a alarm and maybe keep a gun on the front seat (j/k) but to bad about the break in...kind of weird who breaks into a car and doesnt take anything atleast take the deck...

it would be very expensive.....plus from what i hear it's HEAVY, which is gonna take away from any kinda of go that you have
nothing like having 3/4" thick windows that u cant roll down. keep your stock windows and buy an alarm. chances are they saw a lowered car with tinted windows so the broke the glass figuring u may have a cd player or cd's easily accesible. get an alarm with a visable led. most smash and grab guys will just move on to another car without an alarm esp in parking lots that are full of potential victims. it may not save you in every case but it will deter allot of people.

In my experience......If someone is out to get you, they will or if they want what you've got, they'll go the distance. 4 years ago My car was sitting in my driveway and over night someone slashed all 4 tires and keyed every single panel and i have flood lights all over the front of my house. Sorry to hear about your ride I know how you feel......but it happens sometimes no matter how far you go.
i would go with a security laminate, instead of full glass replacements.

they sale diffrent strengths from ablity to stop baseball bat, to a center punch, to a bullet , to explosions.
As if your car isnt slow enough, you have to add more weight to it. Have fun running the 1/4 mile at 20+ seconds.

Do what Big Boi suggested. There's a special type of "tint film" that keeps the window from falling in. Up where I am, all of the Photo radar vans use it on their windows due to people always throwing bricks at the windows. I'm sure you could put it over top your existing window tint. Not 100% sure though.
STAY AWAY from bosch platnum+2 electrodies have a rep of falling off into combustion chamber need i say more
friends dont let friends roll stock
Thanx guys for your responses and tips!, gotta love the org!
Any idea on price im really intereted for my Cavy.dont want idiont taking away my souns system
Cars with tint are always more likely to get brokin into then without ...#1 when the glass breaks it doesn't make that much noise. #2 Dum asses think if they can't see your stereo it must be a good one! I was lucky in my underground parking there was a cam installed 20 feet from my car and found out the the guy next door did it. he got 30 days in jail. I got 1 year pro, for breaking his nose ..The funny side in the 30 day he was gone his g/f moved in with me and now owns the cav. i just bought a sunflower black ..and yes it has tint on it.

i have a tought... if your head hits that window in an accident, your out... or if your car gets stuck in a lake and u panic, theres no way your going to break that class... just a couple thoughts i had on it.

^^^^^^^^^^^^ thats a good point, never thought of that.
but i was playing with some "theft film" as they called it at the home show one time. i weights next to nothing and you really can take a swing at it. the guy at the booth told be and my buddy to try it on a sheet of glass he had set up. the 2 of us must have hammered on it with a baseball bat for 20 min it cracks like in the video, but we never got through it.
i was asking him what it would cost to do a car. he told me they had done a hummer with the 400 series for $600 CDN, said im looking anywhere from $200-$600 depending on what i wanted.

riiight, u 50 cent or something?? it's a 1500$$ car, no one cares.. if they break ur windo go to a junkyard and pick up another for 20 bucks.. u could replace ur windo like 20 times and have 50 high end systems stolen before u would break even having bullet proof glass molded for a cavalier..

If that is the answer to the problem, then why are we all here. Hey! I know! Let's all go by C6 Vettes. Sorry if that sounds smart mouthed but, give the kid a break. He is doing the best he can with the money he has. This just seems like a random act of vandalism and I am sorry it happened.
worst i got was my old caddy eldorado got keyed up in a high school parking lot...oh and somone fit like a 32oz mcdonalds soda cup in one of my rust holes in my old s-10 blazer

...i beg to differ
If you installed bullet-proof glass, I would just pop out the lock with a pry-bar.
The best defense against thieves is good insurance, because no matter what you do to protect your car, people can get in if they want to badly enough.
happened to me...i was out 2,000 bucks...right in my school parking lot. Guess what i did? I found out who did it and smashed the @!#$ out of their body kit, then i slashed their tires and put the car up on some old rusty jack stands...i bet they @!#$ when they found it. all plannedo ut of course...a few of my buddies and i did it. But i learned to make sure my car is always parked CLOSE as possible to civilization. Even when i go to walmart...i would rather have some one hit my car with their door then break into it...and if i have to go somewhere really shady, i simply dont drive my car there. I either get a ride or take my beater. That my 2 cents.. that was 3 years ago, hasnt happend since.
A few measures:
1)Get a low-deductable insurance policy.
2)Find the kid doing the @!#$ and dump a couple of gallons of opposite colored paint all over the car, smash the windows and throw some inside too.
3)Find the kid doing the @!#$ and beat his ass into oblivion... finish with the usual threats (If I see you within so much as 20 feet of my car again, I'm gonna _____).
4)Have a large piece of carbon steel cut into the shapes of your windows and have them welded where your windows once were. I suggest also adding sliding panels so that you may see when driving.
@!#$, let's get carried away...
5)Fill your tires with Great Stuff
6)Have a large piece of steel welded to the entire underbody of your car.
7)Make preperations for padlocks to the truck and hood areas.
8)Set boobie traps rigged to explosives in the car.

You're no good to the group if you never make it there.
Hahaha, lol, Bob! Great stuff, thats along the lines of what i was feelin when it first happened! Electric Door Handles! or Side Flame Throwers! (all when the security system is armed of course) just make sure to disarm it!

Thanks Jack, thats exactly it. I got a love of cars, the cavalier happened to be the best purchase i could make at the time, so now im learning and improving on it. If I could afford other cars then of course this wouldnt have been as big of deal. (Keep in mind this is my first car too)
Ive been researchin and security laminate seems to be the way to go. Llumar also makes a security laminate, Llumar Magnum. I also found out when I installed the replacement window i got from the junkyard, that the laminate should be put over the WHOLE window. The shop that I went to only put tint on the visible part of the window when it is rolled up.
