hey i was wonder for a long time now i have a 1997 sunfire with a 2.2l in it but i want to do an engine swap and i know this might sound degrading to a American made car but i want to put an h22a v-tech in it or a 13B RX7 TT now about the rotary see can you put a engine made for a rwd or awd car into a fwd car as long as you have the right Trans or what cuz i mean there alot more you can do to an import engine then a domestic and its way cheap also would it cost alot to do a rwd conversion and what would you need to do? PLEASE HELP
First off - have you read what people on this board are doing to their LD9(2.4L TC) & L61(2.2L Ecotec ) motors.
In the case of the Ecotec - you can potentially make more power than you can from any Honda or Mazda motor - On the pro NHRA there are people running with Ecotecs making over 1,000 hp - and that's with the motor about 50% stock parts. There are members of this board that are running with between 250, to even over 400 whp from their J-bodies using the LD9, Or L61 motors.
First off there no really good reason to waste money attempting to swap a Honda or Mazda motor into a J-body - it's alot of money & work, and you still won't have a car that can out run the best modifed j-bodies on this board - not by a long shot.
And Just how much hp are you looking for? Because there's likely some one here that already done it.
Vtech huh?
Looks like you need alot more research on the engines you stated, let alone the swap.

h22a v-tech
i know of a guy who tired that in a jbody. but after spending over $15,000 on the swap. he gave up.

Im a Xbox 360 fanboy...and damn proud of it!!
Wow - $15,000 to attempt to swap a v-tec honda motor to j-body.
I guess it makes perfect sense - considering all the parts that would have to be specially fabicated.
Basic point - don't attempt it. Just swap out the 2.2L ohv for a 2.2L Ecotec or an LD9 motor - in the long run you'll be much happier in the long run.
i have a vw diesel in mine
