Hi everybody, im new to the domestic tuning and have a 2002 cavalier. I was planning on swapping the 2200 for a colbolt ss engine so i can have some forced induction action going on. But then i heard from a fellow student at my night class in college that i could use the turbo set-up(manifold, turbo, oil and water lines, etc) from a 1989 saab that would bolt up to my 2200 with doing little modification to the MAF so it would not notice the turbo and there for work. Does anyone have any info about this or opinions?
check the boost forum or search around about saab. i dont know much about performance but i have seen a few of these threads pop up.
For some reason I doubt that anything from an 1989 Saab will bolt up to either of the J-Body 2.2L OHV motors. If it worked I think we'd have a few more guys running the stuff already.
I know the newer Saab stuff works on the Ecotec 2.2L DOHC though. That is going to be your best bang for the buck swap.

I used to race cars, now I race myself.

Next time you're in class, take your textbook and hit your friend in the skull. Hard.
#1: '89 Saab items will not bolt up to a GM 2.2L. Late model Saab stuff can be used on the newer 2.2L Ecotecs, but that's it.
#2: Your car does not have a MAF. The ECU and fuel curves are calibrated from a MAP sensor, not MAF.

WOOHOO!
And I didn't even notice the MAF comment LOL. Make sure you smack him one extra time for that part of the comment.

that cost more money than what you are willing to spend. if you want a cobalt ss motor. buy a cobalt ss

for my saab turbo i am going to have to manufacture the flange for the manifold. it will take some work, but it should be good. if you want to use a saab turbo, you also need to know which saab. the 1980 saab 900 has a t3 turbo w/ .63 ar newer saabs used the t3 but had the .48 ar
