Hello from a newbie.
Wednesday, March 01, 2006 3:45 PM
Just wanted to say hello. I just bought my 05 Sunfire Feb 21. It is a low option car with A/T and the "soft" suspension. I have had almost exclusively new Toyotas since 1996 with the exception being an 90 S10 Blazer I owned for 1.5 yrs. I am impressed with this Sunfire in how nice it runs and it seems to be pretty solid and not a rattly tin box like I was expecting. I traded in my 05 Toyota Matrix for it mainly because I needed a cheaper payment and needed a buy instead of lease as my new job has me traveling more. I had settled on a used 04-05 j-body or 05 Cobalt because I wanted to try out the new Ecotec 4cyl and they are resonable to buy. I paid only $9491 for this one with 26k on it. This is a nice little engine. I was in the auto sales and service biz for 14 years and know my way around cars. This engine impresses me. I am probably gonna leave the powertrain stock but may add better tires and sway bars to it. Also may upgrade the stock speakers though they sound pretty good for stockers. I'llbe popping in from time to time and answering forum questions if I can help.

wait another year or so and it'll start rattling. and if you upgrade the speakers and put in a sub you'll feel like the car is shaking apart.

welcome to the jbody world though. and welcome to the org.

as long as you don't take @!#$ to seriously and don't type something unless you can back it up and know what your talking about, you'll be alright here.

you already filled out your registry so you're 3 steps ahead of most newbies.

GO PATS!!!

What is this auto trans intercepter I keep reading about in these forums? What does it do for the car?

It firms up shift points. But I heard rumor that the company that makes them, isn't making them anymore.

Please, correct me if I'm wrong.

And welcome to the .org!

Car Customs wrote:ShiftPlus simply recalibrates your transmission's hydraulic system electronically. The ShiftPlus shift firmness not only makes driving more fun and pleasurable, but slippage and heat are reduced - extending the life of your transmission! Anyone can install a B&M ShiftPlus in minutes with a few simple hand tools. This new design allows you to improve the transmission's shifting performance without removing the transmission pan or valve body. The B&M ShiftPlus electronically enhances shift quality and is adjustable. A simple flip of the switch allows the transmission to operate in the performance mode. Flip it back and you are back to stock!

B&M ShiftPlus electronic shift improver. I hope that helps answer your question .

BOOM!! SAME TIME!!

I at least broke it down into English for the guy!

And Moe, incase you're wondering...The interceptor and Shiftplus do relatively the same thing.

I just put the description from Car Customs' website. I don't know how to explain what the heck it does . Besides I think the term shift improver gets the point across pretty well.
