one of my rims have this oxidation on them, the other 3 look fine. i know there is a write-up out there on how to polish 3rd gen rims with the use of many grits of sandpaper, but since my rims were already chrome is the process different (easier?)

mother metal polish and the mothers powerball... does wonders.

I've always just used 000 steel wool on chrome. It won't scratch it, and it cleans up oxidation well. You don't even need to put any pressure on it.
After that, just give it a good wax.

Try some Eagle One Chrome and Wire cleaner. My buddy use this after his wheels sat for 3 years without being cleaned. Worked pretty well.
