GM Supercharger vacuum line locations?
Saturday, October 15, 2005 10:06 AM
During the install of my new transmission a vacuum line appears to have disappeared. I first noticed it because of the whistle but I can't seem to put my finger on what is missing.

So, does anyone know where all the vacuum lines are?

Oh yea, the one facing the front of the car right on the throttle had nothing on it so my dad put a plug on it. When he put the plug on it it bogged down and on the drive home it would stall whenever I stopped.

Are you trying to figure out what lines hook to the supercharger??

If thats what ur lookin for then heres what I can think of:

FPR to s/c( passenger side)
MAP to s/c(driver side)
Check your line that is on the bypass valve, Maybe that fell off?

I know when I put the s/c on I had one open end on the throttle body that I capped off. All the other ones were used.

1 was for the brake booster
1 was for the evap
1 was for something else i cant remember

If i can think of any others I will post....or actually I will look at mine when I get off work...

Ok, here's a little breakdown. Forgive any spelling/grammar errrors, I've been up for 24+ hours.

Anyway, on this pic below I circled all the vacuum lines I could find.

Basically, #1 Goes from the S/C to the fuel rail, it's all intact.
#2 Goes from off the throttle body (towards teh rear of the car) to underneath the intake manifold
#3 Is on the lower part of the throttle body (towardsthe fron t fo the car) and it runs into wire loom and I guess into the cab for the boost gauge.
#4 Is the one that was missing a pipe. It is the upper one pm te front of the throttle body.

As far as I can tell those are the only ones. Are they hooked into the right spots. #4 I havbe plugged off right now.

Heres better pictures of what im talking about.

Line #1. Running from th side of the S/C to the fuel rail:

Line #2 Running from the BACK of the throttle body to under the intake:

Lines #3. Running back towards the cab, I assume to the boost gauge
Lines #4, Plugged off at the moment.

I only drove it from the shop to my house. What made me think there was a vacuum leak was a high pitched whistling I hear when I parked the car and let it idle. Then, I noticed #4 had no line attached to it but there was suction when I put my finger up to it. Then, I hooped on one of the computers int he cshop and looked up a pictre I took of the engine bay and notied in the picture there was something ON that line that wasn't there now. So, what is he IAC? Shoudl that be open? My dad just put a plugf on it and like I said, when he did that it seemed to bog down as soon as he put it on then it went back to idling. Now, when I had been driving it around with nothing on it was fine but after he put that on it wanted to stall when I would stop. Thanks for your help so far, I appreciate it.

I've got the same port that was open and I capped it off too.....it was where the fpr line originally went before you put the s/c on. Now that the fpr line goes on the side of the s/c that port is left open...so u gotta cap it off......as far as the whistling I'm not sure about that.....if you got aol im hit me up glfcbbb.....I wont be able to look at my car for 3 more hours lol

Ok then, so any idea why the car would seem to bog down when I capped it off? That's what worried me. I havent heard the whistle for a while now, so I don't know what that was.

Well I looked at mine and I've got the one open port which is capped off.....then i got the other 3 with something on them...one is the brake booster...the other is the bigger hose which is the evap canister.....and the other is a skinny little line that i think is for the a/c so other than that I dunno where else u could look....ill think about if for a little while here

First thing I thought of but he hasn't been on all day.

On the TB there the big brake booster line, the one for the EVAP, and then there are 2 small ones in the middle. The one to the right/on top should be capped, the other one I believe has a line that runs to the driver's side of the charger?

#4 should NOT have anything on it. Who installed your s/c??? Did you have instructions? Those would be extremely helpful at the moment.

Do a search in the boost forum for "instructions" under all dates and you will find the gm s/c instructions somebody else posted. Those should tell you everything you need to know.

Anything at all? Not even a cap. It seems when it is capped the car likes to stall when I stop.

#4 in that pic goes to my hvac line , and my

and #3 goes to my bypass valve

you might have to re-set the iac , if you drove with a vacuum leak , if so follow this

key on wait 15 seconds , key off 15 sec , key on 15 sec , key off 15 sec , key on start car

see how that goes
