My car's been turboed for about 3-4 months now, maybe longer... and this is the first problem I've had since having the turbo on. I have the GM Reflash with the Saab setup(mostly) anyway I'm afraid to go full throttle right now because I don't want to blow it up. I"ve been running about 11psi, but sometimes that number jumps up or down a little. Now...on to the problem. It loses power bigtime and backfires.??? real bad. Yesterday it would do it as soon as I hit 3800RPM's, ONLY at full throttle... Now it seems to be doing it anytime I get heavy into the throttle. And I tried watchin the wideband today and it seemed like it wasn't going oink oink rich like usuall.... But again... I'm trying to be careful so I didn't get a great idea.
I think that the colder air (30 degrees) caused me to have to dump in more fuel and the stocker just couldn't handle it.
I have an electronic fuel Pressure gauge, but of course my lazy ass only hooked it up for a baseline tune. So I guess I'll grab some connectors and find out what the fuel pressure is doing. But untill then I'm goin to turn the boost back down just to be safe... Hell I"m at the point where I forgot how much I was pushing in the first place. I can't really have anything BIG go wrong with the car right now becasue I'm still knee deep in Radiology School.
Any other idea's? I don't know how else to describe what its doing. partial boost is fine tho... I dunno..Anything else I can do to be safe???

have you tried checking/replacing/regaping the plugs?

and check your wires. Sounds like it could be an ignition problem but without more info it's hard to say.

I just checked the plugs... They all seem fine.
Wires... I don't have any! lol The coil pack seems ok too. I'm almost positive it's the fuel... I'll run down advanced right now and pick up the fittings I need to hook up the fuel pressure gauge.
I guess new plugs couldn't hurt too hmm. Maybe I'll pick them up too! It's 9:15... I wonder if their even open...?
I'LL BE BACK!!!

that sucks your cavs screwed up let me know how it goes.. hey whats ur email i didnt get to ask you before you left the trck that day.
Hey Buddy!!! That was the day I was running 13.2's! I remember. The email is speeesh@msn.com Hit me up sometime!
Good News. After I got the spark plugs back in I turned the boost down a little and went to the auto store to find out they were closed.

BUT, On the way there I noticed that at 8psi it's completely fine!!!

Runnin like a champ! I think with the colder weather I was actually running more boost than I thought! like 15!!! well now it goes up to 9.5psi for a sec... then bleeds back down to 8. I guess I can live with that. As long as it still runs ok thats finnnnneeee with me!
AND as an added bonus... I just happened to run across a very nice looking RSX Type S with AWESOME looking headlights... like... actually the color blue. and while *cruising* up the highway I came to the conclusion that my car is just a little faster

the colder air is not making more boost. 30 deg weather compared to 80 deg weather will make the air more dense. so you are getting alot more air in the cylinders.....just not more boost
