buy these parts. (parts list is from a member here, i forget but i wrote them down) they are from a saab 9-3. on their 2.0 (iirc its a 2.0) it puts out 200hp, but on the 2.2 eco its showing to put out between 200 and 225whp.
Saab Turbo
Eco S/C 36lb injectors
Saab Turbo Manifold
Oem Gaskets
parts for charge pipes
Intercooler
reflash
sensor and connector end
Downpipe
NGK 4306 (SRT4) sparkplugs gapped at 0.35

and it will run about 7-8psi and dynos show 225whp and your only spending a grand. but this setup isnt good if you want to get a lot more power later down in the road.

i think that was my post^^^

the t3 from a vearly 90's volvo 740 (i think) is a nice size for a 2200, My buddy had that... turbo quick spool and nice top end.

Myles, he has a 2200, NOT an Eco, so the Saab stuff won't work.

I turbo'ed my 2.2L for ~$300, how's that?

For a budget kit you must remember that you're substituting time/work/research for $$$. For a budget kit I'd recommend:
Megasquirt = $250
450cc DSM injectors = $50
rebuilt 60trim = $300
2.25" U-bends/couplers/clamps for charge pipes = $100
2.5" U-bends for exhaust + hi-flow cat + muffler = $200
ebay turbo mani = $170
FMIC = $100
1g DSM BOV = $30
misc hoses/fittings/oil lines = $200

total = $1400

Then there's my way, which is basically by way of raiding the junk yard and our GVR4 parts car. I, like Josh, have spent a lot of time researching, looking for good deals, and a lot of fabrication in order to save money. Here’s my parts list:

Mitsubishi 14B turbo - $50 (Will eventually be upgraded to Evo I 16G)
Custom header and up-pipe (my setup is somewhat of a remote mount) - $150 in materials, and a lot of time cutting, fitting, and welding
1995 Chevy LT1 24# injectors - free for me, but about $40 at the local yard
2200 fuel rail and injector harness - $30 (for my topfeed conversion)
Galant VR4 factory downpipe - free, but $20 at the local yard (DSM will also work, it’s the same thing)
Galant VR4 blow-off valve – free, $10 at local yard (again, same as DSM)
Saab 900 SPG intercooler - $35 at local yard – Volvo ones work well too
Cartech FMU - $120 used
Chevy 4.3 Vortech fuel pump - $25 at local yard
Misc. pipes, clamps, couplings for charge pipes - $60
Oil/coolant lines, fittings, etc. - $50

And the most expensive thing will be the timing control, which I haven’t made up my mind on yet. I’m still considering my options.

I have around $500 in it right now but I got quite a few parts for free and I’m doing a lot of fabrication. Keep in mind I still have to get the timing handled and I also spent about $600 on parts to rebuild the motor.

DSM 450-40
Venom Fuel Rail -50
Accell FMU and FPR -free
NGK TR6IX Spark Plugs -i think 30
Manual boost controller -20
C2 Whiteface Boost and A/F Guage -85
Greddy Emanage -350

im trying to get most of the stuff off the internet due to the fact im in Iraq. im looking for lowest price NEW equipment. im not a big fan of used parts because u dont know how hard that part was used before. and it seems like most of these parts u can just pick up at autozone? am i wrong?

Some stuff you can get at autozone. Clamps, couplings, piping (if you dno't mind using exhaust pipe ), maybe the injectors if you know exactly what you need. Vacuum lines, t-fittings, stuff like that can be gotten at the local parts stores too. The thing with junk yard parts is you have to know what you're looking for. The intercooler, for instance. As long as it's not damaged, it should work just fine. Usually what I'll do is I'll cap one end and find a way to pressurize it. A friend of mine rigged up a cap that you can tap with a picycle pump to pressurize intercoolers to check for leaks and it works pretty well. If it leaks, I'll take it back - the yard I go to has a 30 day return policy on all their stuff. If it doesn't work, they buy it back. The FMU you prolly won't find at the local parts store, and the turbo, well, if you go with one off a factory turbo car, getting a new one from the dealer can be expensive. My 14B would have been $1500 from the local Mitsubishi dealer. My aunt is the GM at the local dealer so I get discounts on a lot of stiff, it'd still run me $1200 or so new. I could have gotten a brand new custom hybrid turbo or whatever I wanted for that price. For my needs, it wasn't necessary. Getting one used isn't bad if you know what is or isn't acceptable in terms of normal wear. Obviously if the fins are damaged or there's way too much shaft play, you wouldn't want to use it. I don't buy them if they've been clipped, either because you never know if the person that did it went too far and made the unit unuseable. Plus, I can rebuild one a couple times for less than the cost of a new one.

ive used cheap turbos on 4 kits that ive built and not one has ever had a problem. Not saying they are great but ive never had any issues with them. wastegates and turbos i would definately spend the money on but ive used ebay mani's on all my kits (ive sold everyone of them so far after running about 15k on each one) My friend used a small t3 from ebay for about 40k miles with absolutely no shaft play after.
