New Eco turbo kit

I was looking around on Garrett's web site and found this. I know its for a Cobalt but i'm willing to bet that most of the kit will work in a j body, note the cast manifold and downpipe!

wow.. I dont see that fitting on a cavalier with it being top mount, unless the manifold is upside down.

but def. nice kit

It is bottom mount as far as I know but I highly doubt it will all fit right.

its a top mount look at the left side of the flange

also it should fit the turbo isnt that big and the 2.4's have used top mounts , and that down pipe piece for the turbo bolts up to the stock down pipe

Looks like a really niiice setup. Cast manifold and downpipe, nice electronic flash included. The #'s seem really weak though. There was also no stated boost level for each kit type or what kit those numbers were for. I hope those numbers were not for the top of the line "Alpha" kit.
To me, it seems that the manifold sticks out too far to have clearance in a Jbody without firewall cutting. Most of us with turbos know there isn't a bunch of room left even when using short log style manifolds.

If you look at the install instructions, you will see that it is a top mount......

The manifold is right side up in the pic.

i see no way of it fitting... or suing an intake on a j body... thatd place the turbo smack dab next to the strut tower...

Last time I checked there is an assload more room behing the ecotec in a cavalier or sunfre compared to any cobalt or ion.

Does look kinda like it would be very close, not sure if it would fit or not.

yeah that would...

of course those charge pipes seem awfully small....

Yea looks like you would have to Fab all new ones anyways.

I actually have the kit that was made for the saturns, its a log style cast manifold with a mitsu td04, I can take pics if people are interested, no they don't make them anymore. all I need is someone to fab up charge pipes and a downpipe.

It came with a wide and tall front mount, forged log manifold, and an internally wastegated td04.

That kit looks like it would fit only concern would be if the charge pipes would fit over the top of the engine and still close the hood.

I like how people are so quick to say it won't fit when they really don't know. When i posted this i was referring to the "Turbo Essentials Plus Kit (P/N 766621-3)", its obvious there is a slim chance for the charge pipes and the rest of the full kit will fit right without modification.

One more thing, after further searching on Garrett's site i found that this kit was made by Lingenfelter Performance Engineering.

its goiong to be a great kit for the cobalt but there not alot that can be used on a j

none of the reflash is useful also the cobalt uses a returnless fuel system not to mention the charge pipes wont work

this is not the same thing as the sky redline those have a dual scroll turbo and a borg warner turbo

the manifold reminds me of the saab one alot

I would pay to see that thing in a J

ONE WORD.... AC.

my Charge pipes smack write in to the line. and the turbo is off towards the other side.

then again evertyhing is different.

One word?

AC is two letters, or an acronym for Air Conditioning ...

You can buy the "essentials kit", with just the manifold, turbo and O2 housing (downpipe). The GT2860RS is the best all around turbo money can buy for the eco unless you plan on making more that 350hp.

Garrett® Turbo Essentials Kit (P/N 772764-3)

Garrett® GT2860RS Turbocharger
Cast turbo manifold
Cast down pipe
Gaskets and fasteners
