Hey guys, let me first say Im 30 years old and have had my share of fast cars and some of you on here for your age know your cars. Ive never been really the one to do major things to my car ,I always had them done for me.
I read these topics on the forum and for being a younger crowd most of you are very smart.Anyway to my topic.Im looking to get the Eco charger for my 04 and got a price from the dealer in Il for $2886.Is this a good price? Also they told me 7-8 hours of labor at $105 per hour. How does this sound?I know if I have someone other than gm do it it will void the warranty, but would they still do the reflash if I installed this!???
Thanks guys keep smoking the competition!

if they are including the reflash in then your best to do it that way

some dealers have been charging a couple hundred just for the reflash

the price for the s/c is a little higher , but you loose the reflash if you buy the s/c from else where

hey eric

i want to buy the kit from pace performance. can i install it myself and then get a reflash at the dealer near me? My firends dad has been a mecanic there for 25 years but i dont want him to get in trouble for doing something he shouldnt have. of course i would pay for the reflash

i just installed 1 kit , well its a mix of the stuff from the redline/cobalt ss/sc , and the gm kit

but worked out to be the same thing in the end , lol

and i should be doing another install for a friend this month

there is some cutting required on the head , because of a boss for the engine lift bracket that is cast in the head , and is in the way of the tensioner set up

so if your affraid of cutting the head , and there is alot of work to install it (alot more than a 2.4 kit) , then it would be best to let the dealer do it , atleast if they screw it up they gotta FIX IT

also i had a couple of the studs snap on me , and since they arent avaliable from GM , i had to drilll and tap the head for the larger (8mm x 1.25) bolts and studs that the redline/cobalt ss/sc uses

Yup, you can do that, that's exactly what I did, actually. Have Fun!

$2881 is a great price for the kit. When I worked at a Chevy dealer that was my price. Cost +10%+sales tax.
