hey im just trying to find out if i have to buy the crane set or can i use any roller rocker thats 1.6 ratio,3/8 stud??????like this one on summit racing ...part# sum-141507??????please help????and what kind of lifters do i need????how can i I.D. them??????thanx
I believe other people have gone the summit route. Just check your clearances before you start it up to make sure they wont hit the head, eachother, or the valve cover.
even with the crane kit you have to mod the valve cover........but gm makes a kit that fits....i wish that there was a way to match up with the stock ones.....sts has a set that fits the s-10 but i dont know if its the same 2200 orr is it a little different?????
They would be the same, and a lot of people didn't have to do anything to thier valve cover with the cranes either. I had to do some very slight grinding for clearance, but nothing major. Took roughly 5-10 seconds to do.
Oh, and the GM ones you have to do the same modification to the valve cover.
If u would please email me the part number for the crane set that would be great thanks.JONOJONO269@yahoo.com
what do you have to grind on the valve cover??????on howel atomotive id doosnt say.......
you can find the rocker set at howellautomotive.com
You just have to take a small amount off by cyl #3 if i remember correctly. There was VERY slight interference on my set up, so I had to take VERY little off. But other people have run them without modding the vc at all.
what is better 1.6 ratio or 1.5 ratio??????
will a standard rocker from a small block fit my 2200....???????iv found stamped ones and they are standard........also iv found stamped one for the 2200 s-10 on sts performance.com they look just like the standard ones on summit??????
how do you install them?????after you take the valve cover off how do you adjust them??????
how do you finish? i know how to take them out but i dont know how to install the new ones....
Those questions can be answered on howell automotive's page, where there are detailed instructions about installing and adjusting them.
if it is something you are not comfortable with....you should find someone who has done them before. there are lots of sbc guys out there that do these all the time.
cool...how do you id the push rods???????whitch one do i buy????
from what iv read it as if it going to be easy......but it always has a hard part in all thing cavalier.....
it is not HARD, but it does require some technical skill, and attention to detail.
cool...iv got a set of flatlander pushrods, crane cam rocker studs and 8 proform roller rockers..........you can buy alot of thr rockers one at a time a save money..........i cant wait to put them on.......if i cant do it mybe i can pay madjack to help me ......???? iv heardnthat you get the power you lost from high miles and the hp gain from th roller rockers.........hey will this take tention off of the crank ,cam and timing ...?????? its like it takes the rocker arm out of the picture at all...???...that got to be good on the engine........thanx
