Looking to buy a turbo or s/c come summer, but the big problem is I have an automatic. So far the companies I've talked to say they don't currently offer a kit for an automatic. here's who I've checked;
Whipple, Hahn, and a few other no namers that I wouldn't buy anyway. I wrote GM about it but have yet to get a responce. I have been told if I s/c it I will have so many problems with it but no body seems to know how to fix it. \
If anyone could help that would be great. Hahn Said they may have a kit out this summer but they aren't too sure as of yet.
Btw, its a 03 cavi for those who didn't know.
who told you that you would have "so many problems" with supercharging an auto? if you get the GM kit, everything is included and the reflash takes care of any and all tuning issues. i haven't had a problem with my supercharged auto. read through some posts in the boost forum and you'll get all the information you need.
Just read the "Ultimate ECOTEC boost faq" It cleared up a lot of questions. The only problem I have now is where do i reflash it? I don't know anyone who works for GM and I doubt my good looks and charm will get them to reflash it for me.
Also, I was kinda leaning more towards a turbo kit as it has far greater upgrade capabilities. Unless you can tell me how to upgrade the GM s/c to close to 300whp for under 10k.
Um why the hell would you have to convince them to reflash it for you? Its a part of the kit, why the hell else would GM offer a reflash.
Newb forum anyone?
actually GM will not give the reflash code if the part did not go on the car to begin with. Says so not only in the forum but on the GM website.
yeah, but it doesn't come stock on the car. I've talked to the three gm dealers in findlay and they all gave me @!#$ about it.
they wont reflash it if you dont have the supercharger and if they wont reflash it find some other dealership to go to.
hmm. I see, and what of the supposed problems with an automatic transmission?

there are no problems with the gm supercharger and the automatic transmission. several of us have supercharged autos and we haven't had any problems at all. whoever told you about problems with an auto obviously didn't know what they were talking about. the only issue with the auto transmission that i can think of is the charge pipes with the hahn turbo setup. the auto tranny gets in the way. all you would have to do to solve that problem is get a few new charge pipes made.
I see, now I talked to hahn and they said the problem was something with the up shift down shift and they told me they dont make kits for the automatic. I ahve the email if anyone else wants to see it.
been reading a lot of write ups and stuff on this. What would be best for my eco? I hear the s/c would end up around $4070 ($3000 for the s/c $1070 for including everything except the fmic, where as for the same stage kit for turbo would be $4000 and thats including everything (even the fmic). So it would appear that the turbo would be a better value as well as easier to make more power from (something else I read from another forum), right? ...I need some help, can anyone clear this up?
Or you could build your own kit and save about $2000
See I heard to stay away from the build your own kit thing. I have never worked around turbos, and only helped install a s/c so i really am new to this...
