I have the dual magnaflow system from rksport but I don't really like the sound. I'm debating on just getting a cheap system from ebay for a temporary replacement. My question is will the systems made for the 95-99 2.2 fir my 99 2.4? If not, is there any way to modify them to fit because it seems like all the systems on there are for the 2.2s? Thanks
a catback will fit.
its the downpipe that isnt the same
thanks mike. i figured they should fit but i wanted to make sure.
rich - i honostly think the ebay setup will sound better because this system is soooo raspy. i just want something with a deeper tone. do you have any other suggestions? thanks

Have an exhaust shop weld a resonator onto your current system. That will tone it down.

Ding! Ding! Ding! This will help your system out a lot if it's too raspy for you.
can you guys give me an estimate of what it would cost to buy and have a resonator installed? maybe this is a better solution than getting a new system. haha
in sioux city ia like 50 bucks
ok well i'm located in pa. i'm gonna check around at a few shops and i'll repost later and let you guys know what the best deal is i could find.
ya whatever u do dont get a ebay system, get the longest resonator u can fit on there and call it a day haha
steer clear of eGAY for any exhaust systems...
i bought a muffler from there a while back and lets jsut say after a few races it was a hollow tube...
im guessing you still have the stock cat on, i would suggest a high flow cat and res.
if you dont want to do the cat, just tell whatever exhaust shop you go to that you want them to stick the longest res up there possible.

Eat my shift
alright sounds good. thanks guys. do any of you live in PA and have suggestions on where to take it?
another question, what do you guys think about getting the resonator on ebay? am i safe or no?
buy a quality resonator from Magnaflow or any other big exhaust company. Hell even a cherry bomb could work for you (but I wouldn't say its the best option) As with anything in this world, you get what you pay for....If you can find a high quality (NOT a knock off) on eGAY, then go for it.

i bought an ebay catback.... which was called volt catback....??? i got it because it didn't have a coffee can lookin muffler and its mandrel bent and stainless. the sound was crappy, real crappy!!!! bought a 20" long dynamax muffler and it quietend it down a lot. gonna buy a dynamax glasspack to get the rest of the rasp to go away. i am catless tho.
I had the rassppyy sound problem to with my exhaust, I the problem was it was all pipe no cat or muffler, got a ticket and bought a Cherry Bomb Extreme Muffler. It has a single 2 1/2 inch inlet and dual 2 1/4 inch outlet, I tried to put in place of the cat and pipe duals, no room, so I ran short pipes, looked nasty. Finally piped it back to the rear and sounded reaally nice deep and low, but no welder it was bolt on so I removed it. So I now have a muffler I made out of two Steel (not tin) cans, One is 3 inches by 2 feet the second is 2 1/2 inches by 1 1/2 feet. Did some cutting and put them together with some steel wool for packing. Sounds nice real deep, not raspy, just doesn't flow as nice. And its at the end of a 2 1/2 inch pipe, not bad for some free stuff laying around the house. Also made some brushed steel looking tips out of spray paint cans, they made it sound rasp at a slight accler. and when deccler. is sounds mean!!! So maybe the tips could be a issue with your system, I drove a Sentra SE-R Spec-V and it had the full Magnaflow system with the high flow cat, and it sounded realllllly raspy, found out it was the tips. they were glass pack style. Once I removed them and put some wider and long tips on it did away with some of it at idle but still sounded the same at speed.

the other night i went for a ride in one guy's eco with the same magnaflow system from RKsport and it's unreal how much different the two cars sounded. his was sooo much more smooth and deep. i guess it's mostly because of the motor that his sounded so different. we both have basically the same mods, just a few bolt ons.
anyway can any of you give me a link to a place where I can get a quality resonator for a decent price? or does anyone have one for sale to fit the 2 1/2 piping?
another question, what is the difference between a resonator and a glasspack? and would it cost about the same to have either one put in?
resonator > glasspack. Resonators are built of better material and have better sound deadening. Glasspacks use fibreglass for sound insulation and eventually over time that glass insulation can be burnt up by the heat of your exhaust, diminishing the sound deadening affect. Resonators have a longer life expectancy. Therefore, do it right and get a resonator and save yourself the trouble.
