I have a 2000 Chevy Cavalier Z24. I bought it new in 2000.
What I am about to say might make some of you think I am an idiot but I have suddenly developed a new found interest in this car. I found this web site about a year ago and having read ALOT of the posts and seen some of your rides, well lets just say I have developed a bit of jealousy!!
With that said, first things first...,,Over the last year or so, I have noticed a pretty steep decline in my fuel economy. On the highway, I was getting about 33, now I am lucky to get 24 or so. The car does NOT run or idle sluggish in anyway. Still runs great but this has got me baffled! Any ideas?
The car just turned 100000 miles. I change the oil regularly. I changed the plugs about 25000 miles ago. I have had the fuel filter changed.
Any ideas or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
I am not a mechanic by any means but I sure would have thought that some of those would have helped.
Completely off the subject of my first question, the guard that hangs down under the front bumper, which I would call a rock guard, where can I get one other than the local garage. Do they only offer one style? I cracked mine shoving the jack under to change the oil.(patience!!)
Thanks in advance.
time for new plugs if its been 25000 miles, do the boots too. change your air filter. do a compression test. check the air pressure in the tires.

I would try running some injector cleaner through the enjine. Oh, and try jacking the car from the side, next time, but you may be able to find one at your local pick-a-part.
I miss my Sunfire, I want it back!

MMMM, HIDs

You will be missed.
