hi there i was wondering what is the better choice of motors the better ecotec or the quad 4 2.4 with mods like a cold air induction, header, underdrive,and catback exhaust which would you think would have more power and is the ecotec 150 or 148 hp

stock ECO = 140 hp
stock LD9 = 150 hp
(both rated at the flywheel)

The ECO is an all aluminum block which consequently also weighs less than the LD9. ECO is arguably the better choice as it also has much better aftermarket support while many of the 2.4L "upgrades" are usually just stock parts off of a 2.3L Quad4. However, both are very strong engines and have plenty of potential. The LD9 just needs a little modification to keep up the revs. Stock for stock though, the 2.3L Quad4 HO engine or even the 3400 are unarguably faster than either one of those.

same difference. more gm support for the eco. their are plenty of nasty ld9s running around.

with the mods you listed, it will be a drivers race or which ever engine is more healthy. their a few boosted ecos on this site running 12s and 11s as well as ld9s.
