I'm curious to what people would do/recomend for a stock rebuild? What things would you do that would increase performance but would still keep it in the parameters of a stock rebuild?

Since I have no idea what engine you're using, here are some general ideas:

Mill the deck height to increase compression, add a mild cam, do some mild porting to the head. If you don't go crazy, all of those will give you noticeable increase, and shouldn't get too expensive.

However, if you plan on doing more down the road, spend the money on doing the block right. Get some performance pistons, have the whole thing balanced and blueprinted, etc. Down the road you can always do more with the heads, intake, exhaust, etc, but if you dont' lay a good foundation internally, you will regret it trying to do a lot more later.

Sorry, i should have stated that i was in reference to the 2.4. Though it doesn't matter because I was trying to keep the question open. Thanks so far. Anyone else, or anything to add.

My profile isn't filled out because I'm in the process of changing just about everything on the car. Just so everyone knows though, its a 2000 z24. I am waiting until the car is finished before filling anything out because their is so many changes.
