i have my new pistons and you are supposed to face them toward the front of the engine. even the piston it self is written on saying FWD. which way should i face them? towards the flywheel or the crank gear. please help.

the front of the engine is where the belts are (crank pulley)

the flywheel side is usually referred to as the rear of the engine

Towards the crank gear. The flywheel/flexplate is normally considered the back of the motor.

What Skwirl and MadJack said are 100% correct, but maybe an easier way to understand is to imagine how the engine would look if it were rear wheel drive. The transmission would be "behind" the motor. So where the engine mates to the trans is the back of the motor.
