im running low on money, but im not longer satisfied with my cavs accel/decel. anything to make it feel a bit quicker, or be a bit quicker would be great.
ive already planned a full exhaust, but i dont have the money right now. so im looking for mods which would be 100$ or less.
im in a jam with painting my car, getting my wheels, and working on engine components, so im just trying to balace it all out.
paint first,
wheels second
ngine 3rd. but i want some stuff on there. simple stuff preferably. links to websites would be amazing!
i know you get this quite a bit. but i would appreciate some answers.
thanks guys

Dont sink a bunch of money into it. Your not gonna be satisfied with the outcome of it. Make it look good and if you want to go fast either turbo or do a motor swap. Just take my advise as a fellow 2.2 owner it's not worth it. Right now I have mounts, crank pulley, catback, autotrans interceptor and it has made a difference but it's still SLOW.

You have to do a LOT of work to the OHV to make it quick, and a lot more to make it "fast"...
I have motor mounts, full exhaust, 1.6:1 roller rockers, 56mm TB, ported/polished/shaved head, and a short shifter. I wouldnt call the car, fast, but its definately a LOT faster than it was stock, with the head on it (costing me $500) it picked up a ton of power, not to mention the exhaust sounds better, just needs a bigger set of pipes cause its raspy when its high in the r's.
If you want the car to be fast, Id stop with the motor mods and put all that money either towards a complete teardown and race build of the OHV, or a motor swap for something with more valves.
Theres not much for under $100 that you can do to the OHV... autotrans interceptor if you can find it (or BM model), 56mm tb, (sometimes) 1.6:1 roller rockers, motor mounts, intake... theres not much else that I can think of that make it faster (if they do lol) for under $100...
Some sites to check out, carcustoms.net, aplusperformance.com, turbotechracing.com, lol and good ol' ebay.
A quick 4-cyl will not be had cheap, regardless of the number of valves. The easiest over-the-weekend power adder would be a thinner headgasket, or shaving the head, but then you need new head bolts as well (which brings you over $100).

i have the intake... it sounds faster... but thats it. i might have lost 1/16 of a second on the quarter... but nothing worth parading around
thanks for the ideas. i guess ill hold off for a while. i was thinking about the 3800 sc swap, but i think money is gonna hold me on that for a while. i might as well just keep the car running til then.
